FIRST OF ALL, the rebirth OST wasn't on spotify the last time i checked. which like

i can't blame them bc spotify sucks, but also i want to add songs to my cloud playlist

with the remake & rebirth barret is a close....VERY close second for my fav character

to the point where i've been pondering heavily if i want to play barret somewhere (like i have the time/motivation for that)

but cloud is just. i love him i couldn't tell you why

he's not my usual loud idiot, and he's not even my other usual (god's favorite)

he's just a quietly feral painfully awkward shyboy who is smart at some things and dumb at another, who has stumbled into and through enough trauma and tragedy to somehow make it out the other end after saving the planet

(which he played a part in endangering)(it's not his fault)(he thinks it's definitely his fault, some of it)

I GOTTA SCREAM ABOUT THIS REAL QUICK

so in the game, when barret's in your party there's some after-battle banter where cloud goes "good work" or smth in that vein and up to a certain point in the game, barret goes "man, whatever" dismissively

probably because cloud sounds kind of condescending and they weren't getting along, so barret probably thought he was being sarcastic

BUT FOR THE FIRST TIME JUST NOW, I JUST GOT THIS FOR THE FIRST TIME climbing up to shinra HQ

cloud says that, "good work" and barret GIGGLES and is like, "heh heh, you too" AND IT'S SO CUTE

HE UNDERSTANDS WHAT CLOUD'S SAYING NOW!!!!! THEY'RE FRIENDS NOW

STOP I'M CRYING i'm going to play barret somewhere i just KNOW it

i love barret so much, he's by far my favorite remake version

the best dad in the entire franchise
