Given, there's a grand total of 2 live action adaptations that are good out of a million of them... Kenshin and One Piece. So.... I don't have high hopes either.

The movie was bad, but I like the series

I heard there's casting choices and things got cut that made it weird. I never watched either, so I'm neutral for that one. But I was a fan of YYH and played Hiei.... so..... I'm honestly between tempted and hesitating. Lol.

Ep 1 finished. Evaluation... Yokai are okay. The humans are okay. I'm cringing badly at Botan and Enma Jr. There's something really off about Enma's casting choice. Like he's supposed to be handsome, I think? Except they chose the wrong sort of handsome for the character. Boy is supposed to have the cute/bish kind... but this guy is more like... rugged cool.

It does not go well with the pacifier.

The show itself isn't bad. It's quite alright. Just small minor things like casting.

Any changes I do understand for adaptation purposes

Final verdict, I actually liked it. Wish there were some changes to certain character designs, but I have no complaints about plot it adaptation choices.

I think it's good enough to have season 2, but don't know if that's the opinion of the majority.

Acting was okay, except Botan was a bit weird. No complaints on villain side.

Though they've done half the series in 5 episodes somehow. So if they want a season 2, they'd be doing like the other half of the series in another 5 eps. Lol.

This, of course. It's considering they did the thing in 5 episodes and honestly all 5 was meant to be eye candy and not character development (cause what development?). It's great for fans who know the background and just want to watch live action eye candy.

Very bad for a live action show from scratch who watched just the live action.
