Need an opinion, what lights to use for my shelves?

I have a large bookshelf, no longer putting books on it. It's been cluttered with figures and things over the years. Now I'm trying to put lights in the sections.

I don't have any wall sockets, so not likely wired, although I do have usb outlets.

I have recently added some strip lights behind the computer space, but I don't really want too many switches and that's already one switch.

Thinking of wireless spotlights, those cabinet light ones, like 3 or 6 pack with one remote. But the problem with that is those are either rechargeable, or battery operated.

Rechargeable doesn't sound like it'll last too long?

But would batteries need to be changed very often? That could get pricey.

Depending on the shelves, some kind of LED strip lighting could be nice.

I do have some on the underside of the shelf behind the computers.
https://images.plurk.com/dSEaNlfd3oXpgWGCYuzMS.jpg but now I'm hoping to light up the segments. It's the deep large shelf, the type that you store huffs huge text books on with a glass slide for to close them. I thought about strip, but I have no way of linking the strips inside, and want to light up the back

I think it's narrowed down to rechargeable vs battery.
rechargeable has lasted longer than batteries in my experience

komikbookgeek: really?? For lights? I'm thinking for my mouse, 1 week was all it lasted and I got so fed up I ended up just keeping it plugged in. Then got battery one back.
yeah for lights.
little else! but lights yes

So wild question but what if solar powered lights if there's a way to set up a tiny panel by a window? Just enough to power some leds.

Mainly it'll require wires to link them all together, and it'll be tough.

Imagine something like this...

Not that many layers, about 4 segments, but complete with the glass doors.

I would look into strip lights you can chain together so there's one switch for many segments. battery powered lights always seem to me to last a maddeningly short time before they need battery changes

like, my entertainment unit has separate lights in each section but they're all connected and use a single switch

honestly most of my battery powered light strings lasted under a week before needing batteries replaced. maybe there are some better ones out there now, but I haven't had luck with the ones I own so I didn't even bother setting them up in the new house when I moved 3 years ago

having rummaged through my father's Amazon history, I think this is what he used in the entertainment unit; I wonder if there's a USB plug version of it.AIBOO LED Under Counter Light Rigid Bar Kit, Plug in...

tricia868: yeah, might consider that, a hub switch that links it all. Though running the wires will be a pain
