[Dashing Youth] The story of Wu Xin's daddy...
latest #47

Getting near the last two episodes... He really did take baby Wu Xin along with him to march and attack another country. What is wrong with him?! I mean, left him with his trusted men, but in an enemy country while trying to openly kill the emperor of that country.

I have some gripes about this.

Too bad animation isn't complete. I have no idea how baby Wu Xin would be like in that. And live actions are so changed usually.
Jun Wu is intrigued. His Dad sounds unhinged. He likes that.

Oh, his dad is.... something.

It's a tragic love story between Wu Xin's parents basically. Daddy was the son of a great general, betrothed to mommy. General was framed for treason by the emperor and his whole family 'killed'. Daddy was sole survivor and escaped to a neighboring country and learned a demonic sword style. Fast forward a decade later and daddy returns for revenge.

Meets his mommy again, who was currently betrothed to the prince. Unwillingly in political marriage. So he tried to steal her away during her marriage, failed. A few years later, he successfully stole her and they lived happily together as hermits for a few years and got Wu Xin.
Yes. A rebel baby. He knew you had it in you, Wu Xin.

Then one day, mommy was told some lies about her other son with the prince, now king, was dying, so she wants to go back to see him. And couldn't leave the palace again. So daddy went completely nutso, took over a barbarian land, became the leader of a demonic sect, and wrecked havoc back on the emperor's country trying to kill the guy who stole his love.

He lost. Then was then ganged on by a bunch of martial artists that used to be his friends/acquaintances early on before he was nutso..... then died.

Wu Xin wasn't there when he died, so he doesn't know how he died and still wants to find out. And find out why his mother left him. And the people who killed his daddy being his daddy's friends.

There are THINGS he wants to know.
SᏋPH

But the world kinda wants to kill Wu Xin for all the things daddy did.
;; Oh honey. It'll be hard to find peace after knowing all of that.

Wu Xin knows bits and pieces. He knows who's involved in the gang up. He doesn't know who delivered the last blow. He doesn't know why mommy left him at age 3 which caused this whole mess. And he also doesn't want to go back home to the demon sect because he wants to find out all these things first.
SᏋPH

But yeah, Emperor definitely doesn't want to let Wu Xin go home. Martial arts people angry at what daddy did before wants revenge like... everywhere. And monks from other temples think he's a demonic monk because of his daddy. Very heavy burden on his shoulders.

But WHY THE HECK BRING A 5 YEAR OLD WHEN YOU'RE WAGING WAR
SᏋPH
Oh poor baby Wu Xin.
Amy

Seriously! Get a babysitter, man. It'll be safer than a war, no matter what. >_>
Amy

also, I'm liking this so I can hang onto this explanation. Tragedy indeed. At least Wu Xin comes by his rebellious spirit honestly?
SᏋPH

siderealtime: yeah, he got babysitters... His generals. >.< so he didn't bring his kid on his final assassination. That's.... Much better, right?
Amy
....no. XD
SᏋPH

siderealtime: so his best friend kinda set it up to keep Wu Xin as hostage in the country after he died in order to protect Wu Xin... But I don't know yet how much of that reason is a live action adaptation change.

Asked his generals how long it'll take for them to organize the sect so they'll be loyal to young Wu Xin so he wouldn't be in danger of getting a puppet, and they said at 6 years. so he'll give them 12, at which time Wu Xin will be a hostage here to keep peace between the lands.
Amy

ahhh, interesting! so it might've been a way to keep Wu Xin from getting hurt and setting up something for him to rule afterwards.
Amy

at least they probably didn't plan to merc a five year old. >_>
SᏋPH

siderealtime: yeah, he had friends. Lots of enemies, but the ones that brought him down were all his friends, so they tried to protect his kid. Or so the drama made it but they tend to over dramatize relationships. I'm still working on the books, but gist should be similar.

But his generals were honestly loyal and liked little Wu Xin. And they were really sincere when they showed up in 12 years to bring Wu Xin home, except Wu Xin ran from them too. Pushed one off a cliff (it's fine, he'll be fiiiine) while he ran. >.>
SᏋPH

Is like blasted him off a cliff with a rain of projectile weapons.

maybe they could've sent a message ahead, though,:bc of course he's going to think theyre a threat.
SᏋPH

siderealtime: Oh, no, be totally knows what they're here for. He simply doesn't want to go home yet. So he'll blast them off and decide to run.

Never mind that the whole country is kinda after him and they're kinda killing each other to get to him.
SᏋPH

I mean, after they caught up, the general was like, "Thought you didn't acknowledge this uncle anymore." and Wu Xin was only sheepish with pretty much paraphrased 'I knew you'd be okay.'
Amy
heheh..ah, so he's just like "nah, I don't wanna" then. :-P I see!
SᏋPH
Yup. While assassins are killing each other, his general uncles are dispatching all the nobodies in the way, and they're really chaos and dead bodies left in his wake while he keeps running. Why his graduation will need to be him being responsible to go home.
Amy
yeeeeah, probably should do something about all that collateral damage, buddy.
SᏋPH

It's fine, it's fine. He's here now, so no one is dying, no one is after him, no one cares he's his father's son.
SᏋPH
Of course, realizing what his problem is is half the battle. Wu Xin's heart of gold will cause him to not want the chaos to continue once he gets seriously talked to about the problem. But he honestly things the Admiral is like the rest of the world and brought him here because he's the little demonic monk that's passing for his daddy's sins.

he can take a break (a modern-era weird break, but still)! but... eventually time will start again.
Amy

aw, man. ;_; poor guy. That's the part Will might be working on, once they're.... not on vacation or kidnapped or whatever. :-P
SᏋPH
Right? All graduation on hold while existential crisis for all.
SᏋPH
So Will might not get his deal anytime soon. Wu Xin is clueless and rather likes being here. It's.... Safe. For all things considered.
Amy
XD at least Will understands feeling like the Barge is Safe, comparatively.
Amy
and he is not in a hurry! he also likes Wu Xin a lot, so it'll be nice to have more time with him. >_> just have that looming threat of maybe disappearing to death if you don't graduate in time... so eventually it'd be good
SᏋPH
siderealtime: Wu Xin doesn't understand that threat part yet. But, so what if he does. Kid accepts death way too easily. Fights against it the best he could, but surrenders to it if it couldn't be avoided rather than lamenting and being angry. Like, "dang, couldn't avoid it after all."
SᏋPH

He pretty much set out expecting his number of years were limited to 17 to start.
