first freeze tonight, so bye bye summer hello fall at last
oh and then 74 by Sunday lmfao
your weather is like ours, sounds like - 80 yesterday, 75 today, but supposed to freeze thursday night
and then back up into the mid-60s during the day
yep, tis the roller-coaster season everywhere north of texas I guess
with how they're forecasting showers on thursday it's even I guess theoretically possible it could snow thursday night, but I expect the cold will come in as the clouds move out
oh yeah, it's the clear skies that'll bring the cold. like why we didn't have a freeze last nigh
we actually had a couple of very mild frosts around the end of september but really it didn't hit any lower than like 31 so I still have peppers and zucchinis going
shishitos! they're so wildly prolific
definitely one to grow again next year
at the height of their growing season I was picking like 20-30 every few days
I love this early fall period when everyone growing peppers has too many and I can grab handfuls of free jalapenos on my walking route
shishito might be my next attempt
one house even had a bag of scotch bonnets, I was soooo tempted but I don't need to die
those are fine if you put like, small pieces into things but then why grow something that hot really
I feel like just holding a couple in my hand for the last half-mile would have been torment
my thai chiles are as hot as I need to go and even only 1-2 of those diced up is enough for most dishes
it was a wet hot summer, I think most people around here were not expecting jumbo crops of hot peppers
and there's only so much hot sauce one can bottle
especially something so hot that you're going to take a while to go through it
show up at every holiday party for the next three years "oh look, you brought us...more hot sauce."
aaannnd comet sighted! I can even see it without binocs
yeah!!! isn't it amazing?
How do you winterise a rain barrel?
drain all the remaining water (which was a lot thanks to heavy rains, I hardly used it until Sept), then remove the hose that connects it to the downspout and put a plug in
it basically is to keep water from freezing in the barrel and possibly damaging the base or the spigots
BTW, the chill is due to a jet stream wiggle. I checked.
yep. bout time too, but now we're in the up and down wobbles, big areas of pressure instead of weak ones just sitting around
