There's pictures in the description here! There's a set of stairs that we don't see the floor to on the show. It's been assumed that the intended master bedroom suite is up there, and that's where Wu Xin will probably wake up.
What Malcolm's done is clear out the intended dining room and set up his bed in there, along with the restraints, etc. Basically, that creates a nice open space for him and Will to see people coming- that's the PTSD on both of 'em.

he sleeps in restraints but he can undo them himself and he's nervous about being restrained in a way that he can't control.
Would have just been for island and ship. If anything happens, he's instantly put into qi shielding that stops him from going anywhere.
it ties into his claustrophobia bc it was caused by a bully locking him in a janitors closet at school right before a long weekend so he was stuck in there for three days with no food or water.
Just so he can sleep, and Will can sleep, a few nights without needing be tied up. Wu Xin can just keep watch.
