chirality Ethlyn & Toph!! Ethlyn is very glad that she figured out what it was about herself that bugged Toph so much and while she was amused as hell that it was "being taken care of" she's also glad that she has a fuller context for that now.

Toph's situation does remind her a lot of a couple of people she knew who had to choose between loyalty to their family and loyalty to their own truth, and those people were adults and they sure as hell didn't come to a solid sense of closure about it during the year & change Ethlyn knew them

so Ethlyn really wants to help Toph figure out how to get more of the way there; she doesn't think it will ever be fully okay (unless Mom and Pop Beifong decide to stop being blockheads) but it will be good for Toph if she can get more okay

Visas & Root -- at first Visas was confused as hell by Root but Root revealing that she also has a history of violence and darkness has made that less confusing. so now it's approaching more of a "you would 100% have landed on the Ebon Hawk if you were from a Galaxy Far Far Away"

She's intrigued by her because Root is much more deft and confident in social situations. Visas herself is not uhhh SOCIALLY COMPETENT enough to realize that she and Root are friends but they are friends, lol. She's upset by her Shadow being super weird about things rn :'D

Root's opinion of her is starting to matter to her now and she doesn't want to lose it

wisdombitch Ethlyn & Claude... so LIKEWISE Claude is Ethlyn's best friend in Aldrip. The POISON HOBBY aside, he's the person she trusts most as someone who is on a level with her (i.e. not someone she feels a need to take care of on some level)

She's grateful for the conversations she's had with him about leadership and how governments are and how people are -- Fodlan and Jugdral seem like they're quite of a piece from what he's said and so hearing his perspective on someone with one foot there and one foot in a different land has been illuminating

She also appreciates the privilege she has in knowing his secrets; given all he's said of his history she's very gratified that she's been the sort of person he's able to trust (even if it started with Secret-Revealing Events)

It's also nice to be able to shoot the shit as medieval folks sometimes!!! a little thing but a valued one

(that said if he ever gets in real medical trouble because of poisoning she will NEVER, EVER let him live it down)

Ethlyn finding it funny that Toph's issue is "being taken care of" is amazing hahahaha I love them

and she's really great at not trivializing how much this issue means to Toph, when it can sound pretty basic compared to most DEEP TRAUMA BACKSTORIES in RP lmao

chirality YEAH... like yes everyone's parents are dead, including Ethlyn's, but her parents were good parents, and having alive but unloving parents isn't really better

spiritualwhisper Ethlyn & Ruca! Ethlyn likes Ruca quite a lot. He's young but he's keen, earnest, and sweet, and she's looking forward to working with him more and teaching him the things she's learned (and learning things he knows and she hasn't).

He puts her in mind a bit of her young cousin Oifey, who was also 15 last she saw him and an earnest little brainbox, although his thing was tactics rather than medicine

Her brother was Oifey's mentor and she saw how much good it did him, so she's hoping she can become Ruca's mentor in a similar way!
