lmao I meant to keep this concise but then multiple paragraphs happened so apologies for the incoming walls of text ANYWAY.

Diego both respects Alastor and cares about him a lot, two things that are very rare for him lol. He's charming, intelligent, dangerous, and makes for good company.

There's also a sense of kinship with Alastor because of everything they've been through in their previous lives, and how much they have in common. But I think most important is that Diego feels safe with Alastor, which is something he doesn't take for granted.

He also has feelings for Al that feel deeper than friendship, but they're different from his feelings for Vox. Because of that, he figures it's not romantic, but a strong bond that came from what they've shared together and how easily they took to being dominant and submissive.

If asked about it (and when he thinks about it), he doesn't really know how to describe it so he'd just say that he's Alastor's submissive and that's that.

(Of course, Diego also has no idea how to navigate or describe any of this because it's all new to him.

Not just romantic feelings, but deep connections, friendship, and actually caring about anyone. After spending his whole life seeing people as vermin only worth using to further his own goals, genuinely liking people is still weird for him lmfao)

His own nonsense aside, I'd say the truth is somewhere in between: Dio would be glad if things ever took a romantic turn, but he'd also be as glad if things remained the same because he deeply cares about Alastor, and is genuinely satisfied with the life they've built together and the dynamic they have.

So as long as they're together, he's happy lol

Diego also really wants to go to Hell with Alastor and Vox someday, but he also doesn't want to get attached to the idea that it's something that'll definitely happen because it just seems like a recipe for false hope. So dude is clinging to the life he has here for as long as he can lol
