Some people on rpanons said they'd like for a familiar face in the community to run one for dwrp and I said I'd get a feel for if people would like me to be the one to try setting one up

The questions I'd like answered from that are:

1) Do people want a plurk campfire for DWRP?
2) Would you like for me to be the one to run it?
3) Is anyone willing to also admin as one of the 3 admins? I'm willing to handle most of the management of the campsite, if a few people are willing to sign up just to let us meet the requirements. We can also arrange this via PM if you'd like to keep it private.

If I get the go ahead I'll put potential rules by the community to see if my modding style would be compatible with what people want, and any admins would be expected to adhere to using that set of rules.

Fair warning, this seems to be in an experimental phase. Admins currently cannot leave the campsite, and I don't know if that will change.

It may be worth waiting to see what the system is like after it's out of beta.

Anyway, your thoughts?

that way there's no worry (for my part) about not being able to leave the campsite, as I wouldn't be affected on my personal plurk

Thank you for offering! I think my own main questions would be: What would be the benefit of having a campsite? Would we have a productive use for it, that isn't already handled elsewhere/on DW itself?

And on rpa people talked about liking the idea of at least having the option of a place to talk general dwrp stuff signed in and on plurk if people prefer plurk as a place to talk.

Same as the dwrp discord is there for if people want to chill and talk on discord about it. But I would imagine the people that don't really dig discord might like a plurk-based signed in community.

The biggest draw I think would be that sometimes people like signed in places to talk about dwrp, and while there is the dwrp discord, some people don't like discord and like the idea of plurk now developing their version of communities.

Not everyone would use it or be into it, so it's just testing the waters for people that might like the idea of that being another place for general dwrp shop talk.

Not really a question, but this is for those curious what Campsite looks like! I did a quick exploration in my plurk of what this plurk feature is about for those wondering.

I do like the idea of a more visible community of DWRPers to gather and get updates from there.

if you're looking to add some plurks that aren't people's public accounts so there are other people on the board, as it were, maybe some mod plurks from longstanding games?

I haven't looked into campsites beyond the surface but it does sound like an interesting concept and one that I think would benefit the DWRP community on Plurk.

plurk is forever ingrained into DWRP at this point but one of its biggest downfalls is the lack of actual community; despite being social media, it's more like the instant message of yore, you don't really meet people on it until you've already met them elsewhere.

but it's definitely something that'll need solid moderation i think.

I'd also be interested! rn the only way to rly have broader community discussions here is through public replurks and those rarely reach everyone... also u need a public timeline to make them. campsites seem like a good alternative that's easier for folks to find + use

Okay so there definitely seems to be a want for this. This current round had a deadline bc I think they're running a first round beta for this for ENG side of plurk.

Right now, I would like to see what it looks like with open sign ups and if they ever change the mod thing.

My concern with people not being able to be taken off the campsite is...sometimes you have to replace people.

I don't know how I feel about the idea of not being able to remove a mod if there's an issue in their modding, if there definitely needs to be multiple hands helping and a mod needs to step down and be replaed, and if I need to hand the whole campsite off because anything could happen at any time.

I've managed emp for years but even with planning to stick around I am going to school and doing a career change in a few years. I don't know if there'll be a day I need to hand off emp as well?

Also I could have a health issue or get in a car accident tomorrow.

I don't really like the idea of communities being that locked in, so I'd like to see how it's handled when it's opened up.

That gives me time to get the emp plurk's karma up to what's required and also to put together posting guidelines. I figure once they do open sign ups for campsites for ENG side, I can put it by everyone then.

I think there's enough interest to get things ready to pull the trigger on it when it's not such limited sign ups but we also should really see how they handle modding in general when things are finalized.

In every other aspect of dwrp's existence, the admins have the ability to pass off to other admins

So all resources like rpa, the masterlist, emp, dwrp-icons, dwrp news plurk, the dwrp discord, etc. can be passed off if those admins need to. I'd like to see if they add that functionality to campsite admins and mods.

So I think I'll get everything prepared for when campsites come into greater use, see how they're going to handle the admin stuff, and also figure out if I should create a "mod" account with a shared login for that instead so if I have to hand over the keys, I don't have to hand over the whole emp plurk.

And people can have round two of feedback on if they want me to do the modding based on if they like the posting guidelines I'd like to go with.
