[RL/Vaguely Job-related but not really] I just counted all of the coin change that I've collected from my job over the past couple of months, and it came out to over $60! ... Unfortunately, I'm losing about $7.50 to coinstar because free coin-counting machines aren't a thing anymore and the bank I use doesn't have brick and mortar locations.

Yes, it is legal for me to take the coins as I am cleaning cars out. The cars have been sold to the company I work for and boss man cleared me to take anything I want from the cars as by that point it's considered abandoned properly. And you'd be shocked at how many Loonies and Toonies are in these cars.

GRANTED most of the coins I find are in hard to reach spots that most normal people wouldn't bother with because they're not thoroughly cleaning out the vehicle. But then I find that sometimes people don't bother cleaning their change tray before selling the car to us, or the coins are literally under the floor mats, and I wonder WTF

anyway, I am sad that I will have to lose some money to make the coins more manageable to deal with, but I'll still get to pocket $55 even after the fees at least

also there was one car where I found a five dollar bill underneath one of the seats. not counted towards the coin total because duh but still nice!

but yeah I'm not gonna spend them organically as they are now unless I want a cashier to hate me. $8 of dimes (read, 80 of the damn things), $2.55 in nickels (51 coins), $16 quarters (64 coins), $11 one dollar coins, $24 2 dollar coins (12 coins)

I have dealt with cash enough to know that that many coins at once even if a cashier might be low on change is a curse. except for maybe the loonies
