And inexplicably it goes from looking like nothing to looking like a fucking Rembrandt oil painting

There are many artists that don't do a sketch at all. They add some blocky colors onto the canvas, then some more on top, and refine it bit by bit until it's a painting.

Countless hours of life drawing and that is still my weak point

Seeing someone just turn blobs of color into like plants and buildings and landscapes is like, cool enough but doesn’t impress me in the same way as when someone does that and makes a photorealistic person

Don’t get me wrong I love watching Bob Ross but it doesn’t mystify me like the posted video does
