I made some changes to eating habits. instead of sandwiches for lunch, lately I've been taking scrambled eggs and rice topped with soy sauce. I've also been rinsing the rice until the water is clear before cooking it so there's less starch to it and finally figured out what portion is comfortable for me to eat in 30 minutes and there are results
I've also had enough energy to take the stairs at the train stations lately so yeah something is absolutely working now
I'm still over 300, which probably sounds a lot scarier than it is until you realize that I'm 5'11" normally. Yes, still very much overweight, but my goal weight is on the high end tbh (if I lose weight down to goal I'm looking at around 180 lbs.)
and it's only barely over 300, I may dip below sooner rather than later!
If eating some carbs, lunch time is the best! Cause towards the night, our metabolism weakens so best to eat protein and veggies : )
Also been doing my journey. And A+ using stairs!
Thank you! And yeah, I don't think I'm at the point where I can cut carbs completely, but I'm glad that I've been able to have smarter carbs to help feel full at work. Though tbh I mostly made the change because bread was making me feel like crap
I might have developed a minor gluten intolerance but it only seems to happen with softer bread. I've switched to whole wheat when I eat it at home and most of the time it's toasted when I'm eating at home, which doesn't bother my stomach nearly as much
No please eat some carbs, we need carbs. I’ll say this though, I went through a nutrition and they pretty much put me through reset mode
Just saying carbs absorbs better during the day. Night it sits there til next day
sorry I didn't mean cut them out completely as in period, I mean cutting out unhealthier carbs that are super processed x_x like I'll still eat fruits and veggies but yeah I was feeling sick from eating bread at work so I decided to change the carb because I still need it to feel full
Sorry x-x I finally read that part lol
no worries! You were speaking from a place of concern and I appreciate it <3
but yeah normal lunch now is 2-3 scrambled eggs (about 1tbsp of milk per two eggs) seasoned with salt and pepper, and 100g cooked parboiled rice that has been rinsed thoroughly before cooking, and some soy sauce for flavour for the rice.
so just under 1 cup of rice
I want to make fried rice for myself as well, so I'm probably gonna prepare rice over the weekend to have it ready for frying with the frozen veggies in the freezer
Make sure you soak your rice in water for 5-10 mins it takes out a lot of extra carbs .
huh. I usually just rinse it until the water runs clear
does soaking it have the same effect?

i... don’t know? My mother does it a lot cause shes diabetic. Also some people forget to rinse rice. Oo - but yeah until water is clear
google says rinsing it reduces the starch, soaking it allows it to cook faster
Things that I'm doing as well - having yogurt as a treat. Yes, it is still sugary, thus why it is a treat, but I figure the probiotics are also a good thing
I'm eating veggies more too, mostly in salad form so I can add proteins to it but still! and yeah while I haven't cut out carbs I have reduced them for the most part, and am trying for healthier carbs in other spots. Weirdly I'm... not a huge fan of fruit these days, it tends to spoil before I eat it so I stopped buying it x_x but I'm getting nutrients
I think my mental health has had an affect on the foods I crave because I'm not going for snack foods nearly as much as I used to and I'm straight up gravitating towards veggies
