its all about balance i have to see the co workers at least 3 times a week to gossip

Totally remote here, for a totally remote company. We have daily Zoom meetings (just my team, not the whole company, that would be nuts), and we are very tight-knit, even though we haven't had an in-person meeting since before covid.

I hang out with one coworker when we go to Pittsburgh for baseball, and a few of them came to our wedding, but otherwise I haven't seen them face-to-face in years. But a coworker who is about to leave in order to pursue other projects said she will be sad to leave us, that we were the only non-toxic workspace she's ever had.

So it is possible to scratch that social itch amid remote work, but it helps if it's designed that way from the ground up, and I will never tire of lauding my employer for that.
