[r-slur, DMing] Am I out-of-line here? These guys were looking for a new DM when their old one bailed, and I volunteered. I've been DMing for them on Discord for like 9 months, I think. This just happened.
Apparently my demand that they not use the R-slur was unacceptable. Genuinely hurt, kind of saw them as my online friends by this point. Last time I offer to run an online campaign for a bunch of strangers for free. A lot of time and effort to be spat on. 😔

Two, do not assign control of the server to someone.
Whatever you can take away from them, take it. Make them experience an actual consequence to their actions.

"don't use this generally offensive word around me" is not an unreasonable request. I think saying "demand" might have come off too strong for this person and they got defensive about it, but they probably would've still died on this hill even if you'd used the word "request"

if the person who used it initially actually comes back and apologizes, then personally I'd let them slide and just kick the person who fought you about it from the group, lmao.
