this took so much outta me that I legit gotta get some food and then pings a little later when I have the energy
Is there going to be somewhere for people to sign their characters up as candidates? It's not clear whether this is the post for that, or that'd come later.
(Not relevant to me, since I only have an inmate, but.)
Great question!! Ummmmmm basically the current system is write in style. As a result, registration is not necessary. However I did think "oh obviously you should have consent from THE PLAYER when you vote for a character". SO
Maybe creating a registration form is good because then also players could consent to their characters receiving votes
I meant sign up OOC, not IC!
would ask if who's put their name in the hat will be icky known
ha! that's actually sorta it.
Currently the plan is "write in" as in, characters write whoever they want. If a "preregistered candidate system" is preferred, then it can happen, just try to get some IC energy behind that idea (e.g. just in this plurk "yeah my character has been talking about it")
In a "preregistered candidate system" I would say like, late April IC reminder post "PLEASE REPLY IF YOU'RE GONNA BE A CANDIDATE". then when the may voting period comes around, any candidate registered BEFORE then is a voting option.
If there were enough IC interest in a test, then reminder post a little earlier mid April to give em time to do the test
had DnD tonight but I'll take a look more tomorro
I feel you, this post is so freaking late because I was on yellowjackets lockdown tonight
Alas that my one inmate character doesn't care about this.
Omg Walter isn’t EVIL
watch him being tiny and evil!
Also just clarifying though I sure anyone following Walter's ic post about it knows. Vincent's interest is not in running but preventing this from turning into something dangerous. (Also for if people try to write him in for the position I personally don't mind but he will ICly refuse to budge out of his current supervisor role. )
I will also put more thoughts down here and on oocpost when I am not still in bed as it is easier to type on keyboard. Hang in there Lenga! You are doing a good job.

/sits in here
Clasps Maruah's hands like a yuri anime Catholic schoolgirl. Yeah!!!
I think... I'd like to toss John's hat in for new inmate person.
was thinking about it especially since Walter is organizing. but I think he doesn't actually disagree with it as a thing. and he does tend to reach out to new folks in general and I've been looking for a more active thing for him to do.
so I'm not sure if there's IC ballots or just OOCly say if you're up for being potentially elected or what but I'll figure out the IC portion
I think he’d be a great option and could win enough votes too.
As a player I support the possibility!
I'm thinking Walter would not like it and consider it one of the worst possible outcomes but nevertheless attempt to be initially civil.
cannibalherpes can I also just say that with Thrawn paying attention to the proceedings I think that having a new arrival rampage drill could be so funny
OH!!
Blackletter your ping did not go through correctly I'm sorry!!
Walter's ranking of the prospective outcomes and also a graduate vs a non-graduate is preferable
- Potentially subversive (Collins)
- Any old person who's different
- It's just Norton again
- Person he has doubts and grudges about (John Doe)
- Election doesn't even happen and many/everyone just mad at Walter
but absolutely anything is better than that last outcome so again the plan is for him to actively be civil and facilitate for the time being
ok does anyone have ideas for tests, qualifications, etc? plenty of time to suggest them. currently all I've got is a simple "everyone is welcome to demonstrate their skills in the enclosure" so at least that's Something to pacify the people who think there should be Some Standards
John Doe getting elected would be a fine example of why Pyotr actually hates democracy <3
As in, from Walter's perspective due to the grudge. Pyotr wouldn't care for him as monitor either, but also does not care much about the election aside from hoping that it lends itself to chaos and drama.
(I ooc'ly support it as it'd be pretty funny due to the Grudge)
I am here. Finally! Initial thoughts are that I don't think anyone trusts Yennefer enough yet to nominate her, and most here know oocly how she feels about the position of "wardens" so she's not likely to throw her hat in -- but she would be willing to help handle any new violent arrivals the way she did on the NS lol
lilbeejack: You know I was thinking of tossing up something like 'qualifications, maybe someone that is a known deescalator being more important than combat but is also willing to call for backup/support when going to handle a new arrival just in case'
Since the theoretical important parts would be 'inmates can trust Y-san to be civil, fair and not escalate but they might not be efficient at combat if needed; so they'd also need to be willing to reach out to other wardens for support' that sort of deal.
And folk like Yennefer seem to fit that 'will come to help if needed' sort of support idea.
Also I honestly think Vincent would probably suggest that if this bears good fruit, that any such voted positions NOT be both voted for. For instance; two positions for new arrivals, but only one is ever open for voting, the other will always be a warden volunteering for it.
Suddenly imagining the wardens in, like, American Gladiators competition. 1980s style workout spandex and all.
/my not useful contribution
also a neon purple headband for Yenn
Blackletter: Spandex is a crucial part of any physical trial.
Not that Vincent is trying out but Vincent in spandex.
Not even Ever Crisis has dared.
As for tests, something like a questionnaire to gauge people’s preferred approach/how they’d handle some scenarios might be good? With open q&a to drill down on things/let people raise their own concerns.
So maybe something like IC post soon with "please share your ideas on questionnaires etc cetera" that can then be "everyone should do this" in time for the candidate registration period, followed by the voting period?
I was thinking more “hey candidates, please answer these 4* questions about your approach to things, and anyone who wants more specifics/wants to ask about something they think is important that didn’t make the list/wants to shit-stir will ask you stuff”.
*number for illustration purposes only
Too many meeting-about-meeting style posts might bog things down to the point of being unfun.
also wanted to say thank you, Lenga, for drafting up this ooc because i was a little intimidated coming in so late and felt very out of the loop. so i really appreciate the one stop collection of information here. it really helped a lot!
I'm so glad you like it hopefully the posts will be Posted Enough soon. PG I'm going to be thinking on your idea for a bit to make sure I understand
Will check this out in a sec!
quantumvelvet: so I understand the reasoning that "reply with your questionnaires!" would seem like an extremely lengthy chain of posts. But my thought process is like if the post just IS already presenting the questionaire then I as Walter need to write the questionnaire and that is an undertaking
Does this make sense? To me "reply with your questionnaires" is a way for the ideas to be split out more easily and contributed by multiple different characters
Hmm. Maybe combine it into one and just do it like a Q&A session? "Reply with your questions for the candidates and they can answer" kind of thing?
(Also, if you ever want a hand with logistics or putting stuff together, lemme know. Yelena's at Walter's disposal.)
My post is not actually here yet but port looks so fun can you blame me
