I'll go back to get better shots of the clues after the first panel.
Starting off with one of two authors we're stalking this festival at a mystery panel.
The authors are Kelley Armstrong and Seanan McGuire.
Apparently Kelley is calling her book her Fargo novel because it takes place in the dead of winter with the detective being eight months pregnant
Definitely going to take home Ramona Emerson's first book Shutter. Forensic photographer with native American personal history blended in
Second one is the one she's primarily promoting

First book of the weekend
About to sit down for our first Seanan McGuire panel
Amal El-Mohtar just declared she's not writing a series, she's writing a ballad and each book is a verse.
New idea from the panel: vampire pterosaurs.
Currently doing the Storyteller's Magic panel with T. Kingfisher and Suyi Davies Okungbowa.
Current damage is two t-shirts, a bag and four books.
This just in: Reddit was right...
Regarding an opinion on storytelling not being written.
Ugh. I am looking at at least three more books. Because supporting the authors is something I love.
I love this answer to a question about their choice to include LGBTQIA characters. They feel like the world would be less genuine without inclusion.
And the final panel of the day is back to mysteries...
Day one of two complete. I have bought 8 books, two t-shirts and a canvas bag and might end up with even more tomorrow.
One of the tees and the bag are the festival logos and the other tee is a dragon on a pile of books saying "It's not hoarding if it's books "
Home and feeling great and hyped for tomorrow.
I did have to stop and chat with one of the festival organizers because there is an issue with accessibility and the AV cables in the lecture halls as they were set up.
Starting Day two off with a bang! We're at a romance panel with Casey McQuiston
Author of Red, White and Royal Blue
Horror panel now because it's Kelley Armstrong.
Didn't expect the panel to have a whole divergence into grief and how COVID and the lockdown changed our ability to move on.
Oops, I put a dumbwaiter in my book...
Took lunch and got gelato for dessert and now back to panel
"One of my characters started out with a lot of Kenergy but he had to be completely rewritten and now it's better."
