My grandmother's been having me drive her home from doctor's appointments and shopping trips as part of my own practice.

Haven't tried freeway yet, myself...just normal major roads.

it's surprisingly not so bad (at least not at night) although dang people over here love to speed when there's less cars on the road

Yeah, I don't expect it to be that bad for me? I haven't really been having problems with reacting to other drivers, even when they do dumb and unpredictable things like forcing their way into my lane, and I've been comfortable on a road with a speed limit of 40.
milk tea runs are always worth it

indeed. it's nice having that incentive during practice. the "I will treat myself to this thing at a place that's usually harder for me to get to"

Wish I had the disposable income to do that XD;

I'm still practicing in residential areas...but I'm also practicing in multiple vehicles, including an SUV, so...

Practicing in different vehicles is honestly a good idea imo, it helped me be more broadly comfy driving :3

Yeah, helps get used to how different vehicles handle.

For example, the smaller car has a less responsive gas pedal but a more responsive brake relative to the SUV. So in the van, I have to be more gentle with the gas and firmer with the brake...while in the car, if I treat the brake like I do the van's, I'll jerk us to a stop every time.

Not to mention the different shapes, turn clearance and parking are different...

i need to do that. so far I've only did one more traditional car vs a more modern one

Be prepared for a longer stopping distance when you do.

got it. my general rule with cars is to start preparing the breaks once I hit the halfway point of the block, so I guess 3/4 of the way about with SUVs?
