Proud of you! cakeslayer goes in for her surgery next week and she’ll start radiation sometime after that. Any tips I can pass on to her? She’s stocked up on button up shirts and front close bras.

cardinalzen Grab some medical tape and some cotton batting- the surgical bra tends to have corners on the velcro that curl and they get real itchy so laying some medical tape under the corners helps. And the straps can dig in kinda uncomfortably so some flannel or cotton batting to fold up and tuck under them kinda eases how they dig in

and she's gonna have some Time trying to reach for things so like one of those grabbing sticks can be helpful for small things AND A BACK SCRATCHER she will not be able to reach all the itchy spots without one

as far as radiation, get some cooling gel packs that you can stick in the fridge (not freezer that's too cold) when she gets out of a radiation session some aloe on the skin and cooling packs in the bra on the way home (under the boob if she's got enough for it to lay skin-against-skin) And gatorade is a good option to drink on the way home

then just a cool shower and a nice sunburn/etc friendly lotion (I use the cbd hustle butter but even the normal one is good everything in it is like anti-inflammatory and natural)

if she's anything like my mom was she's gonna be exhausted after the radiation it's very much like sun sickness after too long at the beach/etc in the summer

if she doesn't like gatorade then normal water and a chewable electrolyte tablet is the next best thing
