I am taking my dad's offer to get a new one, after he lost a very poorly placed bet that he alone could repair my laptop's fans without replacing them
Do I need a new pc, no. This one runs fine, albeit it coughs and gags and sounds like it has bronchitis 95% of the time
But it runs fine with some stuttering, and that's just laptops for gaming for you
1. Can I get it before tariffs
2. Is it actually better than the specs of my laptop
I gave my dad a website and said he could build it for me and I'll just....... check his work later
Kind reminder, my dad is dyslexic af and usually skips reading everything/anything so he might just put in what looks pretty instead of what's actually supposed to be in there
I think this is also just another fun project for him and I'm happy to keep him busy since it makes him happy and also keeps him calm while everything around us appears to be on fire
I will post here on deskytop updates so feel free to mute! We shall keep my excitement confined so as not to disturb timelines multiple times UwU
The uwu is for added obnoxiousness, ty for ur understand
I have no appropriate emote, send help but there is swooning
I am not being told the price tag of this deskytop, but my dad is making joking threats about it. And I know the RTX 5090 is both rare af and worth 2000 on its own
I also know it's demanding as HELL on pcs and wattage
PREEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
Also, apparently he's hiring someone to build it. I don't get it, but I am kindly assuming it's one of those "build your own" types where you shove the pieces into a shopping cart and then they validate it and build it for you
I assumed he was going to build it, but lol thank goodness, someone else is doing it for him
NO OFFENSE TO HIM, I am sure he'd be great at it. But. lol ya
So the reason I know about the graphics card is because the pc building company sent me an email saying
THE GRAPHICS CARD IS too big, too heavy and might snap in transit if they install it before shipping. Even though it's insured and on their dollar if it did break, these are fucking rare so
Basically, they want to ship it separately to avoid risking anything getting damaged in transit
So my dad does get to install a part of it after all
Granted, it's probably the easiest part. Like you unscrew a thing, snap in the card, rescrew it in and then plug it into the power supply. EZ PZ
Anyway, I told them to ship it separate because fuck
Imagine like shipping it in there. These things are rare and fucking expensive and it just. Breaks.
Some person out there likely would just have them ship it. It just feels...... irresponsible
That's not the word I want but I think the point remains
