i feel like in retrospect his pcs from weekend 0 saturday before they found out about the redemption thing from the npcs were really funny because he was in such a chill and good mood that one day and then never again, so she got like. false advertising a little lmao but somehow they still kind of ended up talking a little about things they

hadn't seen all the way through in their worlds

so i think he respected her from that first conversation, because it seemed like she was someone who'd had important things to do in her world that she'd taken seriously (but he didn't ask for details at the time because he didn't want to pry so he had no idea she didn't actually remember shit)

but also seemed to be reacting to everything in a reasonable and calm way, and she was sympathetic about his world's problems, so it was just like. an all around good first impression

they have pretty similar dry and sarcastic senses of humor i think so he also just found her enjoyable in general, and always enjoyed talking to her and also following her threads on chipper and stuff

she gave him that dare at the first party to pick a stupid fight with someone and we went to tell anders his favorite color sucked and it turned into the most depressing fucking thing in the world about his deep feelings about the color blue and he went back to her and they were both like well. that didn't go as planned.

and did their little "boo" toast as the opposite to cheers because now they both needed to retroactively drink to his never have i ever about depressing people at parties

and i liked that they called back to that once or twice lmao

but that was also kind of like, ok, we can both be assholes but we obviously both feel bad about making this already sad wet man even sadder

they had a thread i liked after the w1 trial where he was saying how not being able to do anything about the situation was what killing him the most, and she asked if it was new for him to feel helpless like that, which he hadn't really thought about before, but the difference was like

he'd definitely felt like he was trapped without a way of fighting back just like. being a paripus orphan and a test subject, it didn't get much more powerless than that, but he at least had enough control over himself that he could trust he'd never hurt basilio (the possession scared him so bad because of that) and he would always protect him or die trying

so before it was like. there had at least been the guarantee that he COULD always fight back, he might just die doing it. here he couldn't even trust that much

that was also the conversation where he learned she was missing almost all her memories, that she'd supposedly given them up willingly but didn't remember agreeing to it and he was just like... that... seems very questionable...

i think there was just a lot of similarity between them in general as people who could come off as very abrasive and mean but actually cared a whole lot, and they had that conversation after bas's cyoa about how it probably would have been easy for both of them to become something a lot worse if circumstances had been slightly different

which like. her memshare really drove that point home... and also it was wild going through that and being like "wait this is just bas's cyoa isn't it"

but he didn't fault her for that or anything obviously and it was nice seeing she'd made the same choice he had

then they went on their own cyoa together which was just an extreme cr boost... it wasn't on the same level as her and anders since he didn't go through the same stuff they did in the second part, but the first part was just like. being childhood friends in general + the shared trauma that had brought them so close in that life + him being so grateful that

they'd gone down to the sewers with him when it was clearly a terrible idea

he'd already liked and respected and trusted both of them a lot, when they first woke up there he was like "this is one of the best teams i could have hoped for actually" but after that he just trusted them completely, which was... really nice because he so rarely trusts anyone

they had that one group pc later where anders was like "can i ask you to do something" and they were both like "yeah" without even asking what it was

they were kind of coming from opposite situations too where she'd never had friends as a kid before, whereas he'd had a bunch of kids at the facility who were really close and important to him (who all died), so it was like. equally meaningful having this little childhood friend group for different reasons

i liked that they also just did cute normal friend stuff after that too, sharing tolkien books and watching the movies and doing their group karaoke performance...

and he appreciated her a lot during endgame even though he was in too shitty of a mood himself to say anything lmao but he really appreciated everything she said to gabriel and how she tried to help everyone who wasn't sure what to do

he's very glad anders is going back with her so that she'll have that support and also an extra person to help with the fortress storming

and hopes she will give him updates on how that goes!!

i think about how their first interaction was after the profiles went up when taair was telling him he sounded so impressive and he was just like ugh shut up

which was like. part him being a tsundere, part him feeling like it was kind of patronizing since taair had perfect grades in everything lmao, and also he was just like. ok you don't know me don't base your opinion on what some shit on a screen says

he's also just so distrusting in general that i think at first he was like you can't really be like this can you... but then as he saw more of him and like, how genuinely happy he seemed to be hanging out with everyone at the first curfew and stuff he was like. i guess you ARE like this.

even not knowing his history they were still obviously from extremely different worlds since taair had such fancy clothes and was so into books and del was like the biggest collection of books i have ever seen is just louis's bedroom

they were just obviously from very different worlds and i think he found it kind of baffling that you could be rich and genuinely nice and sincere at the same time lmao

we chocolate love cursed them as the first party but didn't really get anywhere with the thread since sisi was swamped with cyoa along with the party just generally being insane but we'd talked about how it would go before that and were like well they both have their A's in chastity so i don't think anything would actually happen

so there wouldn't be much reason to be embarrassed or awkward about it afterward since they'd understand where it came from

and they would probably both appreciate that about each other and this is kind of cute actually??

since the next time they saw each other after the party was uh. taair coming back from cyoa half dead. it was like-- obviously the chocolate curse did not last long but he still had those fond feelings fresh in his memory too so it made him worry more than he probably would have if that hadn't happened the night before

then that night was the library curfew

which was mostly the same people who'd been at the beach one the first week

he was freaking out so fucking bad at that curfew worrying about murder happening again and not being able to do anything about it, and now there were cyoas to worry about too and taair and mizu were both there so he was fretting about them too but. mostly taair because mizu seemed like they could handle themselves.

taair (very reasonably) didn't want to set the library on fire and burn the books lmao so del's concession was that he would move all the books on the shelves closest to the door out of the way so they wouldn't be at risk of getting damaged when he set the door on fire, so he personally went and moved these two huge shelves' worth of books to the sides of

anyway the fire did not go great and then he felt really guilty about putting taair and mizu at risk (especially since mizu GOT UP TO HELP and he was like NO!! WHY!!!) and also just like. the fact that taair was kind of comforting HIM instead when he was the injured one, offering to tell him a story later and stuff... i remember he specifically asked if

it would be one with a good ending because he was just in a bad place that day and the promise of hearing something reassuring was kind of nice

the story he ended up telling him was one about his country's history that had a whole lot of similarities to things in his world, so it DID feel kind of reassuring that there was a positive end to it even though he was still a little skeptical of some things and was like hm at the military leader becoming the good king since he was like ?? louis????

and then later he found out it was just a temporary good end and things sucked again after that and he was like yeah that sounds right

but i think it did kind of make him think more about there still being value in making efforts even though there was never really going to be a permanent resolution to anything

because at the beginning of everything he was so happy he and basilio were together but after the deaths started he was like actually i would do absolutely anything to get him out of here even if it meant i'd never see him again

next week was memshare!! and in contrast to that last conversation this made it really obvious that they had a lot in common despite all the differences actually since their deaths were... very similar...

both taking a fatal shot to save their most important person and neither regretting it

but then when they clarified what this was taair was still okay with calling it a date and didn't rule out the possibility of it going somewhere and it was emotionshare so he could tell he wasn't just saying that to be nice and he was just like ???? ok i guess????

so then he went on cyoa the next day and eupha and taair were his close cr that showed up for that (basilio was a separate situation) in the second part when he was trying to evacuate people from this hotel

he had a list of rooms to go to and picked up eupha on the first floor and then there was a room he went to a few floors up for some of richie's friends and then like. they said they were going to call the other people they needed to get out so it was just this one room on the top floor that was left on his list but he was like-- well also he was fully lucid

at that point and aware that it was a cyoa and this eupha wasn't real and whoever was on the top floor wouldn't be real either, so he was like. honestly do i even need to go up there and get this last person

but finally did because he was like well it IS on the list... and got up there and it was taair and he was like of course it is up on the top floor like a fucking tower

so he took them both downstairs with him but then the like clown-possessed cops came and shot everyone and he still tried to shield both of them despite knowing they were fake because he just does that

and they all died. anyway that part didn't really bother him that much since he was never under any illusion that it was really them but he did have a moment of feeling glad he was getting him out of a tower which was kind of cute

hilariously when he talked to him after he got back that was the part he DID tell him about which i guess in retrospect sounded kind of bad to be like "i can't talk about the first half because it fucked me up too much so let me talk about the part where you died instead"

anyway he always intended to tell him about the whole thing when it stopped being emotionshare and when he'd had time to put some distance between himself and those memories but then it was thoughtshare and then it was thoughtshare and emotionshare at the same time and he was just like ok i will never talk about this

sunday evening was the surprise claude death which taair was taking really badly and del found him sitting up on the roof and was like, come down here, don't just cut yourself off from everyone

they went back to taair's room and hung out in the blanket fort since chrono was staying with laurence that night, and taair was looking at the empty bad with these vibes that were like-- glad chrono was with someone he liked but also kind of sad and lonely without him which was the one time del's insecurity and loneliness about feeling like a third wheel

in his own room came out as just kind of a feedback loop of similar feelings, which he'd kept locked away all week otherwise since he had the tavern occupying his thoughts most of the time

so he offered to stay there that night and there was a moment where we were like "well it would be natural to kiss here but that would contradict some monday threads we've started since then that we can't retcon so i guess that isn't happening" and i had him almost do it but then be like wtf am i doing and stop himself

on tuesday they went on a cute date in italy and talked about history like nerds and when taair was getting all blushy talking about the romance part of the tossing coins in the fountain tradition he was just like. okay this is clear enough at this point and just went ahead and kissed him

he kind of vaguely told yves and elysia in letters that weekend, with yves because he was like well he just died horribly so it would probably make him feel better to know his meddling wasn't for nothing, which like. i think the phrasing was just like "(and thanks for pushing me into other things too)" after talking about him convincing him to do the tavern

and elysia specifically asked if he had anything going on with taair and he was like well i don't want to say no like i'm embarrassed about it because that would make me feel kind of bad if it was the other way around so he just said like "i guess maybe we sort of have something going on"

so when the next batch of letters came in and everyone was talking about this on the network i assigned them sitting next to each other during that thread so he could thoughtshare that actually he kind of had told them about it lmao which was a whole awkward thing but also kind of a good conversation because he was like, if you're embarrassed by me i get it

and that's fine, i just don't see that much of a reason to keep it a tightly held secret otherwise

and thankfully thoughtshare made it clear that that wasn't actually what it was, thoughtshare/emotionshare truly did them so many favors in making him believe things he would have been a lot more skeptical of otherwise

then taair went and got his ass kicked on cyoa again... sigh. but he kind of just took him to spend the night in his room for a few days at that point and just kind of made the room into a makeshift hospital room to deal with his injuries there since there were so fucking many cyoaers at the actual hospital

then the last party happened and they danced alone in the tavern afterward and then finally went back to his room for what WAS a spicy sleepover

we were saying afterward that they really had no idea how far they were intending to go when they went back there but like. again it was emotionshare and thoughtshare at the same time and they would have both been thinking about how this might be the only chance since they were probably going back to their own worlds after that so. they just went for it...

and probably had a lot of feelings

endgame... lmao i was losing it at taair trying to befriend the chickens on the train while del was already murdering them which was just. another very fun example of how different they are... and then they had their little rapunzel story which was just so good for the symbolism of setting him free from his tower

then they both kind of backslid in the last part and were having fucking terrible times for different reasons but taair's very worryingly obvious nihilism actually helped distract him from his own murderous anger lmao so that was... something....... it was rough though because it was like, he knew taair would be absolutely miserable going back to his world

and really didn't want him to but they're like

the chicken thing was so deeply funny. cat behavior

both the type who will always sacrifice their own lives and happiness for things they think are more important, and he knew he'd probably never be able to abandon his own world altogether as long as he had a shot at saving it, and that he'd feel guilty about it forever if he did

and he knew how much he'd said he loved his world and wanted to explore it and everything and he just didn't feel like it would be fair to tell him to leave it all and come with him instead

lmao and a few conversations were like "just kidnap him" and he was like ok well i'm absolutely not doing that because part of the problem here in the first place is that he feels like he's a puppet so this has to be his own decision

i love that it was anders who finally got through to him and changed his mind... that's his childhood friend......

it was really funny how as soon as they established he'd come with them he was immediately like "ok so here's how you can pass as one of our majority tribes then" because he'd considered it before lmao

i think i kind of mentioned this before in laby too but eupha is really the only member of the party that he doesn't have some complicated negative feelings about

because she's the only one who didn't pretend to join louis under false pretenses/who wasn't lying to their faces for 2+ months, and she didn't have some personal commitment to the prince

she was mostly just helping them because she's nice and they saved her, and then louis made that fucked up comment about her village so she was also kind of justified in personally wanting to kill him lmao

and he kind of respected what she was trying to do as the priestess too, as... someone else who only values his life in terms of how he can use it for more important things

so like, right off the bat in heaven he was more willing to be friendly and (relatively) open with her than he would have been with any of the others besides junah

he also barely knew her compared to the others, the rest of them he'd started getting to know back in brilehaven and had that whole trip to the island with, he only really every interacted with her in the few days on the trip to altabury and it like. wasn't much because he was wrapped up in his internal crisis and wasn't really talking much to anyone by then

so he didn't really know what her personality was like that much and kept getting surprised by how quirky and cute she actually was lmao

realizing immediately that she was from a different timeline than them since they were from after her canon point and she had very much not died there in theirs was weird as hell but i think he was actually glad even if he never said so because basilio being from so far in the future fucked him up a lot and it was like. reassuring having her only one day off

from where he was

so he didn't have to feel COMPLETELY left in the dust

as the oldest and bossiest metaphor there, and i think probably also a little bit because he liked edeni from what he saw of him and related to him as a stressed out older brother, he kind of felt like it was his responsibility to look out for her while they were there

i liked the situation with the w2 curfew after basilio's cyoa a lot, because he'd either been skirting around it or flat out lying to other people who asked what their plans were, because he was so worried about something happening to basilio that night and thought the safest thing was to be where no one would think to look for victims

but then when she asked he had to like, stop and think for a moment, but decided that she was trustworthy enough and also that he wouldn't be able to forgive himself if something happened to her while she was separated from them, so he ended up taking her too, which just like, permanently solidified the three of them as A Curfew Unit

he was always kind of interested in learning more about mustari culture since he got to see some of it on the island but also was unconscious/not there for a lot of the stuff the party did and was super stressed out and preoccupied the rest of the time, so he thought it was cool that she got to plan her own party around that and was rooting for her getting

and enjoyed it whenever she explained stuff to him

there was also always a little bit of guilt there because he felt like she had a very positively skewed perception of him since she only really knew of him as the guy who helped save the village and. not the one who had also been promoting the idea of killing everyone and taking the lance before they arrived there lmao

though i do think that despite saying all that he would have been reluctant to kill anyone there if it actually came down to it since the mustari were victims of the sanctists too and he didn't have any resentment toward them and could acknowledge that this whole tournament situation was actually fucking them over really badly

whereas if it was an island of sanctists he would have wiped them the fuck out

so lmao his little villain regression that one day where he stole the lance from her room... that was very embarrassing and he hated it but also i think in a way he was almost glad it happened so he could be like, yeah, i would have 100% done this a few weeks ago, i know you think i'm great but i'm really not

i also like that they were two of the people there with the best majima cr lmfao??

which i feel says something about both them and majima... but it was cute how they were both committed to giving him his snake ceremony

on his cyoa she was one of the people in the hotel that he was supposed to evacuate in the second half, and even though he was fully aware that it was a cyoa and she wasn't real and it didn't actually matter if she died, he couldn't bring himself to send her out into potential clown hell by herself without a weapon so he just made her come along with him

for the whole rest of the thing... her just awkwardly standing there in the background while he went around to these other rooms to talk to people... and he still tried to get her behind him to shield her when bullets started flying at the end too and kind of felt bad about like, maybe her fake AU self would have been fine if he'd just left her alone instead

he didn't actually have any hangups about talking about that part, their conversation just hadn't gone that way, but it probably felt like kind of a relief to get it out there anyway when they finally talked about their respective cyoas after that trial

which lmao stressed him out so fucking bad, he so thought one of the murders had been her that week when she had these minor injuries he hadn't seen when treating her before and when a little red jewel showed up, he was like, did this fall off your headdress and you just replaced it????

so he was just like, trying to gently question further while internally screaming until he looked at those scratches for a minute and was like wait. those are like the scratches MY nails leave. and also remembered her talking about not wanting to tell the person whose world her cyoa took place in because it would hurt him

and he was just like. you didn't want to tell me how i was involved either did you.

it was in fact a very unflattering role when she eventually described it lmao but he thought it was fair..... and was like, look, do not ever worry about hurting my feelings, it's fine

he was very relieved that she was going to be able to come join them in their timeline instead since hers just seemed kind of doomed, and also she'd been with them way longer than she'd been with will and everyone at that point, so it would have sucked going back with those memories just for him to immediately die and that basilio to remember nothing

and he was grateful that she just rolled with it and helped with ideas when he gathered them both to talk about assassination plans lmao despite not knowing who the fuck zorba even was

i think overall he just always found her to be very reliable and reasonable, so back at the beginning of the game when the murders first started, he'd felt comfortable going to her and being like, hey, if anything ever happens to me/i ever do anything, please keep bas from doing anything stupid and risking his life

even though he was like no this does not go both ways and she was like "hm i think maybe basilio isn't the brother i need to worry about doing something stupid"

he was also just like, impressed by how optimistic she always managed to be even if it kind of drove him crazy sometimes and how good she was at connecting to people

like her talking about all the stuff she used to talk with zhongli about after he died and he was like "shit all i ever talked to him about was murder" because he's just so used to being all business and not just talking to people for fun and getting to know them

he actually mentioned in a letter at one point how he felt kind of embarrassed that he kept learning how close people were when one of them died, knowing he'd never really tried to get that close to much of anyone, so he kind of admired her for it

also her saying near the end that she'd always had faith they could get through it because she'd had faith in all of them... he was like damn you really should not have had faith in some of us but also i guess you kind of weren't wrong

anyway he's looking forward to murdering a sad louis stan with her and seeing how things go this time!! hopefully she will frequent their diner there too whenever they finally make that happen
