[kindred: the embraced] a vampire soap opera shot in the 90s on a budget of about 12 dollars
latest #14
really earnest writing that cares about the lore, not awful but not great
good music, interesting cinematography
great acting, which interacts weirdly with bad directing & mediocre writing
they didn't have the budget for good fang prosthetics, so they don't use fang prosthetics, but artful close-ups of peoples' canines
which actually works better than any fang prosthetic I have ever seen. makes people's teeth feel threatening all the time without need for special effects.
did not have the budget to properly light outdoor scenes at night
so what they do is, they film them without any filter whatsoever in the middle of the goddamn day
and insert dialogue telling you how long it will be until the sun is up
which is, sadly, hysterical when you can see the 3 PM reflection off a bald man's forehead
the Ventrue Prince & his Nosferatu friend, honestly, I could watch & listen to them chew the scenery all damn night
they're unironically splendid, classic Vampire: The Masquerade exemplars of their clan
I'n enjoying it even though it isn't good but I don't know if I will make it through all 8 episodes
