We have to do peer review this week and ..... I am struggling to understand my classmates
I am probably one of the older students in the class
But. Like. My kids in China had better grammar
America, what happened to you
The peer review is for a 1500 word essay, it's not too bad
it's fucking sad is what it is
So I had to review 3 peer's works. One was really good, one was very challenging to read, and I'm pretty positive the 3rd is GPT'd
I sent an email to my professor if I should still review it as is
lol my professor sent me back an eyeroll emoji, thanked me for the heads up and said to review it as is
She's so done with this lmao
The last major paper we wrote she had to send out an email reminding us of the ai and plagiarism policies, that they go on your transcript's permanent record because 3 students got caught doing one, the other, or both
Why would you do that, it's not even worth it
because a. laziness, and b. everyone who does it is a shining example of the Dunning-Kruger effect and thinks they're too smart to get caught
if they were that smart they'd do the work properly instead of finding a shortcut
because they either don't know how to do it or don't care to learn how to do it
actually i'm going to walk back what i said just a tad, i really think a lot of them haven't been properly taught. Whether that's a failing of them to learn or a failing of the school system isn't something i'm going to speculate on here, but
it is true that a lot of people think young people just 'know' the internet instinctively because they 'grew up on it'
and so i really do think that there is a shocking absence of internet/computer teaching
oh yeah, the way most people interpret "digital native" theory is horseshit
