Rain waited until Sunday after closing ceremonies, fire only really delayed artist alley opening one day.

Cheesecake factory had a big kitchen fire, and then a natural gas leak. Fun times.

The panel I was running was great! There was some miscommunication about tech, but we just went analog instead and still went well. Packed room, all kits handed out, some new guild members.

And my cosplay actually behaved! I did forget a piece of one costume, but I had two others and it wasn't my main one, so good enough!

I've heard two different fire stories... Well, three, but two are related to each other... car/charger fire in the garage in that building, and kitchen grease fire in Cheesecake Factory... I also heard an alternate situation that it was the Hyatt that had the gas leak, but, again... same building... that one building was just not having a good weekend. LOL

But I'm glad you had a good time, at least! And that you're back home safe.

sailorgundam06: News site was saying kitchen fire, and the 911 blog put Cheesecake's address for the gas leak. Honestly, probably connected IMO. Maaaaybe last ditch insurance scam (no evidence, just suspicion with the timing because they're already scheduled to close down early May).

Honestly, I had the same thought about the timing.

Though, they picked one hell of a weekend to attempt it. They couldn't wait another week and at least try to get some extra money from the con goer sales? LOL

Seriously. It's a con standard restaurant. Friday night, I had someone asking for a picture right in front of it with the sign.

right? bad idea... not only does it mean a harder evac of the building because of all the people, but... yeah... missing out on all those sales that could have happened after the fire... people had reservations!
