If there’s one thing I’ve learned from playing many, many atlus RPGs, it’s this: Almighty damage fucking suuuuuuuucks

Granted you can get an okay source of it from the Merchant in this game. But I’d much rather artificially give it a weakness to fire and then drop a meteor on it, 4-5 times.
I have seen multiple places online call Devourer Of Stars the hardest boss in the game and you know what
It only took me two tries but I walked in with a party that, based on the info broker's description, I thought could handle it
Reader they could not handle it
Then I spent about half an hour theory crafting a new setup that could do the job, and then another half an hour running up and down the tower farming up enough MAG to actually implement said solution
And on the second attempt I very nearly bought the farm TWICE - once near the start, when I had to spend agonizing ages trying to recover from a really bad turn that left two of my party members dead
and then RIGHT at the end, when Hulkenburg cast what should have been the final meteor drop to end it...and fucking missed
my life flashed before my eyes I swear to god
Yeah Junah is essential for that fight
But you still need to keep decent damage up with everyone throughout so he doesn't hit Enrage
I was doing damage exclusively by doing the flame dance into Hulkenburg meteor drop
Which was like 2500 damage if we weren’t debuffed and 1200 if we were
That and Catherina starting the party off with 5000 damage even
Yeah if it gets through... 4 cycles?
Once it cycles back to Prince after a few times it just casts the party wipe spell it uses at the start of the match if you walk in with any fire immunity equipped
I think you might be thinking of one of the other dragons
This is the one that does poisons and hexes and is immune to all damage types
My set up was:
Protag - Prince with Pen Patra and Medica, and the Venomous Amulet to keep him from getting status ailments. His job was to clear Hex and Poison and keep the party healthy.
Strohl - Royal Warrior with Shelter Formation. His job was to keep the party's defense buffed, and use miscellaneous curative items to cover as needed.
Junah - Masked Dancer, Mage lineage mode. Here to use Hellfire dance to apply fire weakness to the dragon.
Hulkenburg - Elemental Master with the Arcane Unity passive from Wizard that makes Synthesis attacks more effective, and Tetrakarn. Here to cast Meteophor, but also to keep a Tetrakarn up on the protagonist.
If the dragon used tail swipe and it hit the protagonist, while tetrakarn was up, that would prematurely end its turn.
oohhhhhh yeah pretend I said nothing
