Today, I found out that apparently Grammarly counts as an AI program and, yes, some of them got flagged for that.
I didn't know that. I thought it was a grammar thing but I guess it's now an AI thing too?
grammarly, unfortunately, has AI-powered writing tools
it can't write papers for you but the way its writing assistance works skews awfully close to chatGPT and the like
I haven't used it in like. 10 years, I had no idea
what's real fun to me is that it's not even a case where large language models are necessary, we had spelling and grammar checkers figured out way back in the 90s at least
the main problem i have with Grammarly, and the reason i will never use it and am thankful i never bothered with before, is that it's now even more of a crutch rather than a tool to help people grow
it claims it can change your language for you to 'sound' more apologetic or sincere in type
how are people supposed to learn now
also the whole thing where it says it can give you topic prompts for your essays, very short jump from prompts to writing the whole thing for you
Yeeeeeeaaaah that's ridiculous
I just thought it was chugging along with grammar still
I don't understand commas, I never will
But I still don't even use it for that much lol
commas are like salt, sprinkle them in to taste
I know I overuse them so I tend to just write with as many as I want then go back through and remove half of them if I am caring about format XD
Bruh this Lit class has me second guessing every comma I write ever
One paper alone the teacher wrote "comma" 17 times
I have no comma nd of commas
I know it's supposed to be when you take a break, right
But I guess I just break in the wrong places lol
FAM I TEACH ENGLISH FOR A LIVING this is sad
I mean, I know a gal that did grad school in an English lit area and apparently one of her grad classes was specifically about commas
