Setting is 1920's-30's style art deco slow apocalyptic shit. 25 years ago some people in a nearby island said "we're using these cool arcane rocks to make WEAPONS" and the island we're on (Karteria) said oh fuck no

they got some of their people to take the chips in their necks and get beast forms to stop them, but they all died

so we're 25 years post-arcane radiation fallout, life is struggling along. we're in a city with a barrier. people's quality of life sucks

you're brought there in the hopes that you can help fix things, and getting the chip and the soul allows you to survive the arcane nastiness....at the cost of getting beast form

after 4-8 months, you'll have a Corrupted Form that is your daily thing, which is partial-beast and partial-person, but the beast options are super open AND they want to add more in the future

For Act 3 get the character quests done but don't panic over every big boss in the sky. You can do that just fine in New Game+

Orrr beat the game and then retroactively run around the world so you get the story done first before flopping about the harder optional bosses before NG+
