Just a lot of things happening all at once

Alex is visiting cause Katie has surgery next month so she's helping arrange hotels and things. Katie will be in another state for the surgery for ~3 weeks if all goes to plan

So Alex was like Oh, I have to go home Friday morning because I need to let Sam into the house

AND I WAS LIKE

SAM?

So I then messaged Sam to convince her to skip Alex's place and come here instead

Even though it's 2.5 hours further for her to drive. But I mean. After driving for 8 hours what's another 2

Sam's going to DC because she's going to a friend from high school's babyshower

WHICH geeeeeeeeez I remember when they were babies ffffffff

Anyway SO I convinced Sam

VISIT surprise dad

We'll go out to eat at this little cafe that only has outdoor seating and it'll be GREAT

WELP

She's coming in about 3 hours

And you know what else is coming in 3 hours

A massive thunderstorm!

So about that outdoor seating hmmmmn

We might need to change plans

Also our power is out and has been all morning

So power's out. Storm's coming through at around dinner time. Alex and Sam are both here and........

Welp

Oh and it's graduation week for UVA so .... finding a restaurant that isn't filled to the brim with grads and their family members is near impossible

I called the cafe earlier too and they can't take anymore reservations because they have 3 grad parties coming and a massive birthday party

WHICH I am very happy for my local cafe being busy af like this

But also save some space for meee aaah lol

tell them to squeeze you in somewhere, you take up like negative space

lol YES BUT THE FAMILY

If it storms, we can't go regardless

They have only one smaller section with covering

Usually it's like eating on a lawn with patio chairs and tables

The storm worked in our favor

We got there early, basically as soon as Sam showed up we left for the cafe

They know me very well, I should mention. So that helps lol

My dad was fussing about seats. He wanted to move tables, they asked him not to. He wanted to sit at like a little bar thing but they asked him not to lol

All of this is outdoors right

Above the bar thing is a small roof and in the roof is a bird's nest

With tiny baby birds

And the parents have started getting rather aggressive and like pecking at people

But my dad thinks he's immune so he goes to this bar thing

So I'm chatting with one of the employees and she gives me a free drink lol because of my dad making everyone stressed

I love this place lmao

Anyway so one of the parties that reserved called in to cancel because it was indeed storming

And since I was already chatting with the employees I was like Soooo what if we nabbed the table?

We did, so it all worked out but talk about good timing
