I love his style, the stupid haircut, the dyed hair, the marks, that fucking suit that just got more and more questionable over the years .. I mean, croco leather accents? That cleavage? Man, I love someone who can pull that off!

But I also love how he seems to have that casual attitude, but there's so much more to discover once you dig juuuust a little deeper. Small details like that he's second in command, or that Rude and him have a 100% success rate on their missions are telling about how serious Reno takes his job, even though it might seem different at first.

Sure, he's a petty bitch, and there's a lot of damage once he's done, but he gets the job done.
(Also that he takes the younger Turks under his wing when there are any)

Still trying to wrap my head around how Remake Reno is supposed to become that extremely dorky and comic relief character in Advent Children (don't get me wrong, I LOVE him in this and him and Rude are just two guys fighting and holding themselves against two of the fucking remnants!),

but I try to bring some of that into my RP too, so there's a mixture of Remake and AC in the way I'm writing him? Definitely already on that "seeking redemption" route, that they're on in AC.

Oufff, good question .. his negative traits are what also make him interesting to me, like his pettiness, or how reckless he is.

They make him human, and not just some random mini boss to beat every now and then.
If I had to pick something, I'd say how him and Rude were reduced to comic relief in AC, but even then they were entertaining and tbh more memorable than some of the actual main cast, and still capable ... so, idk.

If I had to pick one from the game, it's probably "I see you're doing whatever the hell you want. guess I'm rubbing off on ya."

There's also two lines in Advent Children that were awesomely translated in the German dub.
The "It's Jenova's fricking head" line says "Ist doch bloß Jenova's Rübe", Rübe meaning turnip in German, but it's also used to describe someone's head, mostly in a negative fashion.

And even before that, "The time of my life", when Yazoo asks if they're having fun yet, was translated to "Ich lach mir nen Ast," which literally translated means "I'm laughing myself a branch"? .. basically an idiom for "I am laughing my head off" ... which, tbh, is a wasted head joke in the english dub, ngl xD

If we see it strictly platonically, obviously Rude and Reno. However, I am a shipper on deck, so good question .. I guess it depends on the circumstances, point in time, ship, etc ..
Like, Reno is super shippable with a lot of characters in canon, and I do default to Rude/Reno, so basically Reno can be bros with everyone else?

Causing bullshit with Rufus, trying to get Tseng to relax a bit, hanging out with Elena (helping her bedazzling her gun or whatever, lol), and I've read fanfics where him and Tifa were pretty close, because he kept hanging around her new bar, and I honestly loved that, so I can totally see that too.
Also shared gremlin energy with Aerith!

Reno can be annoying, but he's pretty easy to hang out with I think, UNLESS you pissed him off in some way xD

Rude/Reno, hands down, no discussion!
HOWEVER ... again, Reno is very shippable, and I'm open to enjoy art, read fanfics or rp basically anything.
Favourites aside from the very obvious are ships with Cloud, Aerith, Tseng, or Rufus, though again, it all depends on the circumstances of the setting, etc.

I definitely got a special soft spot for Reno and Aerith, though it's one of those "Yeah, not gonna act on it" things.
But the true OTP is Rude/Reno, because come on, look at them! They are so in sync, they don't even need to say anything and still understand each other.

Rude throws Reno his baton and Reno catches it without even looking! Rude mutters Reno's name when you cast sleep on him in a fight. They spend what they think are their last minutes together in a toilet (!) and then leave to go outside after all, just to die together ...

Evan describes them as "always together like knife and fork"; Reno literally tells Rude "you're all i have"; Reno only shows that he doubts the plate fall mission in front of Rude before putting his game face back on;

Reno stalks Rude on a date to figure out who he is dating and uses Turk resources for that and later shows up under the lit Christmas tree like the true love waiting when Rude and Chelsea break up; Reno notices when Rude isn't wearing his usual sunglasses and that he's grumpy because of that, DO I NEED TO GO ON?

Also there is that whole earring theory, but that's probably (?) just a headcanon

My headcanon about how he joined the Turks is that he lived in the slums (since at least his father is canonically dead, I just assume his mother is too because she never gets mentioned) and grew up there alone, having to fight/steal to survive. He's always been fast, so stealing stuff came easy to him and he got more and more cocky.

like, trying to steal from SOLDIERs cocky, which, as we've seen with Zack, isn't the hardest thing to do.
Until he tries to pickpocket a Turk and obviously gets caught, and that's how Shinra got their hands on him, like "oh, this kid has some skills, this could be useful"

First of all, Reno's name is NOT Reno Sinclair, that was a name from a damn fanfic that somehow took off and got a life completely on it's own, but that's not an official thing and I will not use that name!

The other is Reno's original hair colour isn't black, even though his roots in Remake are growing out dark, but rather something like light brown, or dishwater blonde, because of his brown eyebrows, and eyebrows tend to be a little bit darker than the natural hair colour on a person's head.

The roots look dark because obviously everything (aside from white, I guess) would look dark in comparison to that bright red

That he is so damn adorkable. Like, despite what he has seen in his childhood (and I assume it's a lot, given that he is the last archivist and was casually sold as a child AND has seen his best friend getting decapitated in front of him ..)

does he have this almost childlike naivete to him, since he hasn't seen much else from the world.
He sees the wonder in small things and gets so easily excited, and I just want to hug him every time he does

He wants to be equals, and not he sidekick of the story, which he honestly deserves

The obvious choice is Vanitas, and the bait is strong with these two.
I love doomed relationship tropes and we do know from the very first page that Noé will kill Vanitas with his own hands, though the circumstances are yet unclear.

But Noé is someone who can actually handle Vanitas and who tries to understand him, despite Vanitas' attempts to push him away, emotionally.
Also Noé is a cat person, and who is more of a cat than Vanitas, lbr

Sure, all of the Morigang is devoted to William, but Moran has been there as the first member of that gang (besides the brothers and if you want to count Jack) from the start, and he put his faith in that kid after having been betrayed by those he trusted and seen everyone else die in front of him ..

And yet, he believes in the cause and is ready to die for William without hesitation. Sometimes even a little doo devoted, considering the timeskip shenanigans ...

Also that he is disabled, having a prosthetic hand, but it's never made a big deal. You see him getting his hand torn off in the flashback, and now he wears a glove, sensei knows that the audience is smart enough to not even mention it's a prosthetic but that people can connect these dots

(it's a fucking sherlock holmes manga after all!) until much, muuuuch later, and he is as much of a valuable member as everyone else and it doesn't stop him from still being the best sniper there is

Again, I even like the flaws of the characters I like, because they are what make the character.
Maybe that he becomes a little too obsessive with the whole Moriarty plan after William is "gone", but it's still a pretty cool story and he recovers pretty quickly ..?

Guys, it's fictional, it's not that deep, and again, with how devoted to William and his plans Moran is, there seems to be hardly any room for anyone else in his life.

Also the way he clings to the card William gave him? Or how possessive William speaks the line of "Moran finally got what he wanted, he finally belongs all to myself"? Don't tell me that people didn't ship them before Sherliam became obvious!

After all, he joined the army because this felt more "freeing" than his home, so it's either the very strict rules of nobility that he dislikes (though the military also has very strict rules, so not sure if that's what it was) OR his father was an asshole, and Sebastian just wanted to get away from there.

I stick to the latter idea, personally.
