i didn't watch the finale yet but i just finished the second to last and like

i get while people hate that scene, it's so fucking clunky and misses all the nuance this game is fucking known for

like joel confession what he did to ellie when they did it, made more sense then all at once

ellie has to sit in her anger for that porch scene to hit the way it does in the game '

by the time she says she wants to forgive him, she's had time to turn over all of his actions in her head and to decide that like... what wasn't even asked of her at that age was unfair

like i don't even care about the fuckin dina with a blowout ever ep or them BANGING AROUND because whatever lets suspend our disbelief but if you're going to fuck with the core of the show just..... make a different show

anyway, here's wonder wall i'm gonna go shoot little guys in my screen before i watch the finale

i won't lie i can't even bring myself to watch the second season LMAO i just can't with this show, unpopular opinion but i didn't even enjoy s1

i think the only bits i enjoyed about s1 was the pilot and the bill episode and the rest felt like i was watching one of my favourite stories in the world become torpedoed into something that wholly misses the point

i'm convinced craig mazin just Doesn't Get It and he wanted to make something palatable for masses and because druckmann is busy also working on intergalactic (which go off king i need that game like i need air) he hasn't given this season as much of his attention so the whole thing kinda suffers

and add a bunch of rando storylines that make no sense

and all of the little 'call backs to the game' and the use of the same line in a scene just to wink and nod to the Gamerz just doesn't hit AT ALL and actually makes me cringe

but yeah, i haven't seen a lick of season 2 so i can't really speak to it aside from what i've heard/read from others

but the consensus does seem to be 'wtf are all these changes and why are they bad'

yeah i got really mad w the whole "its an adaptation so it's not a 1:1 remake stop expecting it to be the game" and then watching them put in 1:1 scenes bc they wanted to steal the emotional beats the game actually worked to make
