The thing I remember most about Higurashi was even when it was fucked up in the beginning that it was very good about peeling back another layer of fucked up-ness but it very much did not give that too you from the jump.

I expect there will be a lot more mystery to this and uncovering the mystery will increase the horror because none of the answers will be good.
