Starting with the easiest one: Scotty is just a cis dude. Given the whole More Enlightened Future IDIC thing he is definitely wholly aware of the concept of Having Gender, but he's thought about it and nah he's good thanks

Kleya's a new pickup so I haven't devoted huge amounts of thought to her situation yet, but the vibes are very much "are you a man or a woman" "I'm a rebel agent" "but what's in your pants?" "a detonator"

Like she is 100% comfortable being perceived as a woman and presenting in a very femme way, but I suspect she's never actually introspected about how much of that is a facade and how much is something she would have chosen, because as far as she's concerned what she would have chosen has zero relevance

I can definitely see a world where post-finale she starts exploring how she actually wants to be perceived more, but I don't know yet where that leads

As far as Roy's concerned he's a straight cis dude, but he will not introspect about it and you can't make him

(only Jamie can make him)

There's a few different ways you could play it, but I personally like the idea that he's actually like a solid kinsey 5 and has spent the last 30 years violently repressing that fact

Like I think that Keeley is actually something of an exception for him. He says himself in s1 that prior to her his flings with women have been short-lived and shallow, and he always feels like shit afterwards

And I think that part of the reason he's so invested in that relationship is sheer relief that after many attempts he's finally found a heterosexual relationship that actually feels natural and sustainable

Because he's very much aware that in the premier league being anything other than 100% straight is Not On The Table, and his football career has always been more important to him

ANYWAY as I was saying

Eames I think has probably always had a fairly malleable relationship to the concept of gender identity, and since becoming a forger is now firmly in the "gender isn't real" camp

Like certainly in the dreamshare he is completely comfortable appearing and being perceived as a woman, and interestingly keeps that appearance up after it's served its purpose and is no longer necessary

Overall I think he's probably like...technically NB/agender in that he doesn't really have a strong internal sense of gender identity one way or the other, and in a real-life scenario is kind of like "well this is the meatsuit I've got to work with so here we are"

Like this is definitely a man who's had someone try to explain the concept of dysphoria to him with "well imagine if you were in a woman's body" and gone "???? if I was in a woman's body I'd be a woman"

"Man" is the label attached to his flesh vessel and he just straight up does not have an opinion about it

Who else have I not done

Rocket's gender identity and sexuality are both "too traumatised to relate to the concept in a remotely normal way"

No-one has ever explained the concept of gender to him to his satisfaction and on some level he privately suspects that it's a bit

He's probably technically somewhere on the ace spectrum in that I don't think he really has much of a sex drive, and actually choosing to sleep with someone would be about trust to the point where attraction isn't really a meaningful factor

His relationship to the entire concept of sex is so deeply fucked up that I don't know if it can be usefully described using the normal vocabulary for orientation

But I guess the closest would be "functionally demisexual", in that he absolutely is not going to let someone he doesn't trust completely anywhere near him

I haven't actually played him all that much yet, but I've written enough fic from Varric's POV to have Opinions

Like the fact that he is meticulously clean-shaven at all times is definitely Something by dwarvish gender standards

Also whether he's straight or bi depends entirely on what gender Hawke is, sorry I don't make the rules

And last but not least, Silk's sexuality is "yes", and his relationship to gender I could write a fucking essay on because it is textually fucking fascinating in a way there is a 0% chance the author did on purpose

Like gender doesn't ever explicitly come into it because Old Straight White Dude fantasy, but the way he canonically talks about his identity full stop is really fucking interesting
