There's a lot of people that I know who are planning to go. Last time there were like 60-80 people there. There... might be a lot more this time.

A surprising number of people were there.

Like, there was a protest in April that I went to that had maybe 60-80 people, in the same place, run by the same group.

There were over 200 by my estimation today.

Lots of people I've never seen before. All ages, good support for lgbtq people, and ONE (1) Furry.

there was a small group of counter protesters. Maybe at their peak a group of 20 of them in two different groups. and then six or eight big ass pickup trucks with flags that would occasionally drive by and be noisy.

the Confederate flag waver was the first one there and then a bunch of other people came around him. literally tells you everything you need to know about MAGA.

they were eventually joined by three guys in SCA knight outfits. they have to be in SCA. the costuming was way too good to not be.

anyway my friend Brian who studies the ways that medieval history is appropriated by later groups was happy to point out when I told him this that yeah, white supremacists love them the idea of medieval history.

overall, however, there were way more of us and it was good to see rural Alabama put up such a low quality bullshit counter protest

I'm proud of you, your protesters, and anybody else in Alabama willing to go out and protest when they're able, because... yeah, it's ALABAMA. I'm not scared for my life protesting in So. Cal. Alabama, though.......

I'm told that after I left a counter protester shoved a woman to the ground. this doesn't surprise me. they are assholes.

but that was the extent of physicality at the event.
