I fucking LOVE Killer Instinct so much

I mostly just remember that it looked really cool back in the day

It's still really cool, today

I haven't played this since like 97

Like you can still just go online and get ranked matches

but "C-C-C-C-COMBO BREAKER" is still etched into my soul

There is no feeling more ecstatic in all of video games than hearing that COUNTER BREAKER yell in your favor

(Which I pulled off twice in this set)

(Because the first time I used shadow Ankle Slicer he instantly broke it and I was like, ah, I see how it is)

(So the next two turned into Counter Breakers)

I always love when older games are still online

although I mostly just remember the SNES KI like Eric

That one I've never played myself

Only read about it in Nintendo Power (and actually that was the N64 one)

The thing with Killer Instinct is that the existence of combo breakers means that they can make the characters' kits really fucked up

Like, a KI character in any other non-kusoge fighting game would be disgusting

But it's fine because even if you get hit, you can still break out of it

It opens up the design space ENORMOUSLY
