it was already nuts knowing the Rose of Sharon was UC universe's Lalah's Elmeth with her stuck inside (apparently sorta stuck in time?), but now apparently the gquuuuux timeline happened because that Lalah was trying to "save" Char
and then Shuji somehow summons the OG gundam from the original timeline to "fix" everything
beyond the time playing at the end was hype tho
slicknyc:
throckmorton was sitting on the other end of the couch as I was watching and all ey kept hearing was "WHAT THE FUCK WAS THAT"
I'm a bit up in the air as far as how I feel about it because I liked it more when gquuuuux was allowed to do it's own thing but despite how I describe it, it's actually a fairly interesting twist in how it's presented? Just a little too "Hah! And you thought you could get away with not watching the original series!"
when I described it to Throck ey said it sounded a bit like what the FF7 remake games are doing with that timeline, which I kinda agree with but I can also see it not being everyone's cup of tea
my main complaint is that the pacing is atrocious because of the 12 episode length
but i am enjoying the ride lol
yeah like it's running into the same issue Witch From Mercury had, which was that it needs more time to breathe and develop the plot points
Like one smaller thing is I could potentially buy Machu and Nyaan as friends (that later get forced into being rivals) but because things happened so quickly they're essentially still strangers relatively speaking
WFM at least had 24 eps, so I felt better about that one since I was mostly concerned about Mio and Suletta's story.
And it managed their relationship and arc pretty well.
anyway here's how machunyaan can still win-
WFM focused more on the character development so that even though the plot was rushed, it was still satisfying overall
but yeah Gquuuuux is suffering a bit from being so short with such a weird concept that basically they have to exclusively choose between either developing the characters or the plot, and they decided on the plot
but because it has such crazy concepts going on it feels extra breakneck
like I'm having fun, but I would love to see what they could do with at least double the episodes
like the whole "machu crashlands and spends time at the mansion" could have been a whole episode on its own, maybe even two.
an older gundam series would have made that a 2 or 3 episode arc probably
also the concept of "Lalah is alive here and basically tormented by the feelings her alternate universe counterpart had for Char and Amuro" fascinates me and I wish they had explored it further. She might make another appearance but given the pacing idk how much time she'll get
