[Crafting] Mostly talking about what I want to do next!
latest #30
now that I have been freed I feel like I want to do ALL The things
(but the real irony is posting this on a day where my hands are hurting again... one day I won't have a job where I'm typing all day)

but mostly I want to try getting back into knitting and maybe learn to crochet..... my knitting experience however was a beginner's scarf that is. twisted up a bit to put it nicely. it won't lay flat and I think it's because my tension varied lmao
it's legit finger pain which is the weird part

ouch
I've had trigger thumb before thanks to this job..... it took like two months to go away, it wasn't fun. about all I could do was wear finger braces and gloves until my hands went back to normal
but right now this is probably just 'went too hard at it on a Monday' because I haven't been cross stitching much either, so I know I'm not overusing my hands
which is probably why it's silly of me to be considering new crafts... but there IS something nice about seeing a faster result from your progress, cross stitch really doesn't offer that since it takes forever
my little sister started learning to crochet about 2 years ago and she's done really good with it so far... I ended up giving her some of my yarn collection but the rest is at home, I'm waiting for my dad to ship me my knitting supplies and other misc things

(suddenly reminded that I DID do a knit cactus project that I eventually sold to my other sister, that one came out pretty cute. and a cat-eared beanie for my lil sis)
for crochet I'd mostly just like to learn for both making plushies and other more complicated items
I already own quite a few really cute and interesting pattern books... lemme see how many of these I can find pictures of

hmmm I can't find my Twinkie Chan books right now actually..... I wonder if they're in a box at home or if my little sister borrowed them, those are out of print I think
regardless though these books all have projects I want to do in them, I just need to start on beginner items and work my way up

I also have access to my local library through the Libby site/app and there's plenty of magazines and other books in here too
(don't ask me why but it seems universally true that all the best english language crafting magazines come from the UK or Australia)
and I know this is an ad but my god just look at it
so pretty... I'd love to make a lot of cottagecore stuff with some more colorful or pastel things thrown in too
ooo my library at least has Twinkie Chan's home crochet book! I think it's just the scarf one that's out of print actually
the Halloween special dropped HELL yeah
this magazine is very mid to bad the rest of the year, and I don't care much about the Christmas special, so Halloween is where it's at
there's legitimately some great ones right off the bat... I'm looking at this via Libby but I might buy either the digital or the paper version just to make sure I can keep it
... lmao 9 bucks for this single issue or 6 issues for $20... that's how they get you
gotta say, as unfortunate as that 'dreamcatcher witch' design is that's on the cover, I checked the designer's website and most of their stuff is SO much better?? this reads like a rejected pattern from their regular woodcut collection
(also the rest of their designs are way too witchy/edgy/cute gore for the readership of that magazine lmfaooo)
they still should've used a spiderweb or a bat for that design instead though, it's not an excuse
