I think I knew VLC could do that, but I don't remember how.
yeah it's tools > preferences > filters something else, I wish there was an easier way

Hmm.
I've done it a couple of times using kmplayer. But I'm too lazy to not just let it autocap, so I don't know how well it works if you're doing it more manually.

No, autocap is what I want. I had a program I used, but it was giving me, like, 15 gigs per episode of images when I was only capping a part of the episode.

I do not have that much space on my computer.
I couldn't speak to that part of it, as I don't remember. I know it always produced a lot of caps for me to sort through. But you can set the interval for how often it caps and also the quality of the caps.

I use VLC (on occasion, lol, but it’s been great when I did: also it’s just the most helpful program for everything) and I’m not in front of the UI BUT I bet I can find the Dreamwidth tutorial I used

I also autocap, but reducing from HD (it’s gonna be 100x100!) and being specific about clips and interval are the best way to avoid huge dumps. I do reasonably frequent caps to avoid ‘every cap is a weird face’ but also, I had to go pick a musician as a PB so - even if I just ran it the whole source would be like four minutes at a time

hah. Thanks. I know I've done screencapping en masse, but the last time I did was over ten years ago.
