The characters you could play as in D1 are now corrupted into bossfights

Tristram and almost all the NPCs from it are dead

I think only Deckard Cain survives

Every character you might have grown attached to in D1 is fucked

Which, again, upset me as a teenager when I first played it

but as I've grown up to see SO MANY other franchises just keep going back to the nostalgia well

sometimes making your character in future game installments feel like an NPC in a game that still revolves around old characters

or at the very least just going back to the nostalgia well far too often

Diablo, at least in its early days, went "nah, everything you liked is gone. Move on."

Blizzard is good at upsetting people.

Remeber WarCraft III where you have to raze a whole city of innocent people? I almost stopped playing the game there.
