(It's not actually that bad. Nothing is lost, but the bank is scrambling to fix everyone's access again.)
I mean... It's bad, but I am playing it up a bit for comedy
I don't know if I should feel proud or annoyed at being the one to go: no, I think this is a big problem
As I got an access denied when I tried to log in. Asked my manager who also go access denied. They asked the head of the department who also got access denied.
They first waved it off as an outage and I went: eeeeeerrrrrmmmmhmmmmmm... I don't think that's it
As I've seen their: sorry we're down! Message plenty of times.
This was red exclamation points and: access denied messages
I talked to live chat while on hold to our business line to the bank. They confirmed - no outage.
Got through to the business specialist team and they were all: ah yes! We got your email to close the account.
And we went: just the ONE of our many accounts, riiiiiiight?
Bank went: Ooooh..... can I put you on hold for just a minute?
~TWENTY MINUTES LATER~
Bank: Soooooooooo we may have accidentally suspended your whole account
u feel like.. that's something you REALLY double check before processing, bank...
It was a badly worded email from one of the CEOs
They did double check with the CEO who basically went yeah, yeah, yeah do whatever
We're getting people with the right authority and code words to put things back.
I'm being hailed a hero at the moment for not leaving it as a: regular outage issue
feels weird a bank just like '...oh ok

' with that much money in them tho... also i assume without a 'it gets transferred to this account'?!?!
I'm avoiding going into details - but the badly worded email from CEO was badly worded.
well... well done catching it at least XD
When read out loud I could see how it could be read as: close this specific account, and the whole business
So how many bricks are the bankers shitting right now
jelmling?
damn, well done catching that
but boo on them for not taking it seriously good lord
The only not funny part of this is payroll.
It's supposed to go in tomorrow and the bank was like: lullllll we have no idea when this is going to be fixed. In a couple days???
So we're figuring out how to do Australian payroll from our accounts in the UK as a back up plan
ROFL, probably enough to build a new brick and mortar branch XDDDD
I had a feeling you might have some fun insight
Everything else with our accounts can wait a couple days. Payroll cannot
I'm mostly shocked that there aren't some signatures required for the closing of any account.
jelmling - the poor guy I had on the phone went from bubbly friendly customer support how can I help to sounding dead inside after that 20 minute hold
also where the heck did the money go? did they issue and mail a cashier's check?????
also that CEO needs to not only word things better, they need to work on reading things thoroughly
what you are describing is the type of fire I am usually putting out, or hopefully preventing in the first place DX
Money is still in accounts as it was suspended and not fully closed as - yeah they were still going through their final checks before shutting the account
It's been a fun work day.
that's good at least. if it were our system it would be a simple matter of changing the status and letting it update overnight but obviously I don't know what systems they're using
thank goodness you caught it before they fully closed the accts, i am sure it would be even more of a nightmare of they had gone through the whole process
Access restored

we don't have to send payroll from the UK anymore
I think ZZ should be rewarded for her proactive nature with one of those billions or even a million?
Heck, I'll be modest and accept 100K
