Yeah it’s either Hill House or Midnight Mass

Midnight Mass I think has a lower baseline but higher highs

the best bits of MM are incredible

Bev Keane is a villain of all time

she's the fucking WORST

But yeah as much as I enjoy watching a bunch of horrific billionaires getting Final Destination’d, the show does have a problem when you hit the point where it’s really clear what’s going on, there’s still three Usher scions to go, and it starts to feel a bit rote

Roderick even lampshades it at one point, that the ghosts that are tormenting him which he confesses to Dupin are all doing the same shit

I loved House of Usher but Verna drove me fucking crazy

Punishing the Ushers and acting as a divine judge for f human sins while ALSO being the Devil figure who empowered them in the first place

Anyway Midnight Mass rewired my brain and is probably one of my all time favorite pieces of fiction

That didn’t bother me so much because at a certain point I got the vibe that she wasn’t cosmically judging them for their sins so much as she personally hates their guts
