Viksbelle: He's the CEO. She is technically her employee. It is a big ethics problem. He has power over her at work (for example, he could find a reason to fire her if they break up, and using that to blackmail her into doing what he wants), and everyone will assume that whatever raise or promotion she gets, it will be cause she goes out with the boss.

Basically, if he didn't resign, her career was busted. There is a reason it's against many ethical codes in workplaces. And men are too often given a pass when lording their power in order to get sexual favours. So I am not surprised that it go public attention.
