Sorry urgent work came across my desk suddenly so couldn't finish this complaint

But as part of our fund raising we collect bottles/cans and take them to be recycled. It's the one thing that he and one other person said they'd manage - but they ask for my help when it comes to sorting them.

I've been asking for the past couple weeks - hey guys, it's been awhile, sure we don't need to count cans?

Yeah, yeah, yeah. Not enough to be bothered with.

Then suddenly it went from that to - it's overflowing in like 48 hours and needs to be delt with NOW

So, already annoyed about that. But fine. We picked a time and agree to all meet to count cans.

I was the only one to show up on time. Everyone else was 15 minutes late.

But I had gotten started sorting and counting. There's 3 of us working on this when useless finally shows up and asks what needs to be done.

I said more sorting would be a help if he wanted to give the guy WHO ISN'T EVEN ON THE TEAM THIS YEAR but was on last year and was just helping us out a hand with that.

Or the bucket that we were putting plastic bottles in could be counted.

I was actively counting the cans from one of the 3 buckets we have. Awesome dude was throwing cans my way and plastics the other. Useful teammate was collecting glass from each of the three

And these are pretty big buckets. 2 people can comfortably stand at one each.

What does useless do? He comes up and starts taking cans away from me to count. Even as helpful guy was all: uh... ZZ was counting cans???

I basically just rolled my eyes said: didn't matter and swapped to the COMPLETELY FREE BUCKET to start counting the mountain of bottles

He did kind of go: oh, were you?

Because, seriously, a lot of this doesn't feel outright malicious or anything. It just so feels like he doesn't respect me and thus isn't actively listening to what I have to say

LoneWolfPrincess - the only people higher than him in the company are the CEOs

I could go to HR, but it doesn't feel worth it when in a couple weeks I won't really need to deal with him anymore

And we counted 1800 cans/bottles and that was probably only about a quarter of what was there

There are so many more to count, but we only had an hour before we had meetings and such to get to.

Only could have been better if we finished one more bag of 200 cans

That's okay! I knew what the condolences were for, but it just clicked in my brain what a nice number 1800 is

We bagged:
900 cans
200 milk cartons
250 glass bottles
450 plastic bottles

And there is SO much more to bag

but we had also run out of big bags at that point so probably a good stopping point

No, selfish bastard just grabbed the stuff for his Buzz costume and didn't bother to get the army man stuff the whole team needs.

and the other lady but since you seem to be 'in charge' of a lot of stuff (because no one else is stepping up to be clear, not that i'm saying you're taking charge) i'm guessing he's trying to challenge you

ghosting you after you agree to help him with something, barging into your can/bottle counting to take over from you without your permission, leaving just your costumes behind...

if he's not challenging you i don't know what he's doing

oh and we mustn't forget that he's going out of his way to do nice things for the other group members so they won't notice, or if they do they'll care less

I'm going to be happy not to work with him after this.

I am making it slightly worse as I haven't corrected him on the spelling. (To give the TINIEST bit of an excuse for him: he's spelling my way the more common way. So he's at least no butchering it). Mostly because if it was the only thing I would not care in the slightest

I could correct him, but I'd rather grit my teeth and not care. He's the head of a different department that does not usually interact with mine. So it doesn't feel like a battle worth having right now.

I told this man about an extra storage box we can use.

Him an hour later: Hey, ZZ. Steve told me there's an extra storage box.

NO HE DIDN'T. I TOLD YOU. STEVE ISN'T EVEN HERE TODAY

As I was leaving today I got asked: ZZ, why didn't you come get these items for your out of state teammate today? Useless told me you were coming to get it.

I may have passive aggressively sent a screenshot of useless telling me he had already done it yesterday.

But this person insisted he said I was going to pick those items up today.

and they really needed to be grabbed. Once again I'm picking up his mess.

The person I got the stuff from had a little laugh thinking useless must have mis-typed his message to me and meant to say I needed to get them but instead said he would get them.

I was not amused. I bluntly told them - no, we had divided up the work and this was part of the job he was supposed to do.

And I was not subtle mentioning how that is happening a lot lately because I am just so done with this man's crap.

I hate that this is becoming more of a chore each day closer we get to leaving.

This is supposed to be the fun part.

As that's not even mentioning how he wanted us all to bring our stuff today to do a practice pack.

Then he didn't bring his because he decided last night that we should wait for the interstate team member to arrive first. WHICH IS WHAT I SAID EARLIER BUT HE INSISTED THAT WE NEEDED TO DO A SEMI PACK AT LEAST

So there I and the other girl were dumbly with our stuff going: when do you want to meet up for the practice pack, jackass?

And him going: oh, sorry. ZZ was right. We should wait for our 4th member so I didn't bring my stuff today. I thought we all agreed to that.

I mean at least he said I was right this time

Why does it matter that he forgot to tell us he changed his mind? It's not a big deal. We can just keep our stuff in our cars overnight one extra night. Why does it matter that he forgot to tell me to do something? He had other important things to do.

And the: I never contacted the venue when I said I did.

I'm just hoping that he's better when we're actually out on the road and all the organisation stuff is done.
