I'm dreading the amount of work waiting for me.
And yup. Moment I walked in I got slammed with stuff DUE IMMEDIATELY because they couldn't handle time management without me.
I'm purposely ignoring some of it because, seriously, not all of this should have been left for me.
Especially as the only coworker on with me today dumped this on me to then immediately take up the easiest task that isn't time critical
Thanks guys.
Look, I will give her at least this credit - in her mind she thinks it's a critical thing that must be done first thing in the morning, but it's really not.
I've told her this before, but for some reason she can never understand that it's okay if it doesn't get done until later in the day or even the next day
I also tried to explain to her again as she dumped banking stuff on me that the banks have a time cut off - this work she was going to do doesn't have any time cut off.
Could she give me a hand? To make sure all the time critical stuff gets done before the cut off time?
Oh no, have to do this other stuff that isn't time sensitive first because there's so much more than normal due to the weekend. You know, like any other Monday we've ever had.
I even tried to ask: well, when is the cut off for that? She looked at me funny and said: cut off? There isn't a cut off. It's just when we get it done?
And I sort of went: yeah, so why not do the banking stuff first?
And I swear I could see her brain short circuit before she went: well, yeah but... It needs to get done. So I think I should do it right away. Or we might get questioned as to why it's not done.
Which I think is leftover trauma from when they'd leave this task for DAYS before I got hired and yeah - then they had upper management asking what was taking so long.
We never get questioned so long as we clear it in a day or two. Usually even more time after someone has been off and Mondays which we have both happening right now.
But ugh... I also don't want to waste time trying to keep explaining this so I let her go and picked out the items I know I can miss out doing today and it won't actually matter
As yes, some of the things she just gave me that MUST be done today, aren't actually due until the end of the week.
Not that I'm going to tell her that.
I will make sure the overdue and due today stuff is at least accomplished, but I'm not going to bust my ass to get us ahead of things like I did before I left for the week
