it's a calm, quiet area (at least when I was there) with canals, moored sailing barges and the last working windmill in the city. (They grind grain for gin making, apparently.) I was going to go to see the Van Nellefabriek building but I couldn't figure out the tram network and it felt too far to walk from the nearest Metro station.

At that point I realised I was catastrophically tired, so I went back to the hotel for a nap.

in the afternoon I wandered fairly randomly around the Blaak and Cool districts, saw Grotekerk, got food in Markthal and called it quits for the day.

tomorrow's plans are vague, depending on if I can drop my luggage somewhere or not but the definite thing is I've got to catch the Eurostar back to London!
