I'm curious now, haha. A licensor wants us to update the "on [streaming service]" on the cover, and I don't know that including Disney+ makes much sense for NA.
Will probably try to go with "Hulu and Disney+", but.
isn't hulu soon to be folded into disney+?
I can check tonight when I get home?
I have heard the apps are merging soon, but haven't verified it myself
also i'm not sure hulu is even available in canada
We don’t have Hulu in Canada, all of it’s content available here is directly in Disney+ under the Stars tab
It’s been like that since always
Cool. Yeah, I wasn't sure if Hulu was even a thing elsewhere. And the apps are semi-merged here, but not totally, so... Weird spot! Haha.
Even on Disney+ here, the show's got a "available with your Hulu subscription" so you have to have the bundle to watch it through the Disney platform.
But the US/Canada would be our primary distribution zone, so I'll go with listing both.
yeah what i'm seeing is that hulu is being fully phased out some time next year, but i already stopped paying for hulu a couple months ago so i hadn't looked too deep into the announcements yet
I'm grandfathered in a discount that I haven't fiddled with, so... Same! But that makes sense.
At least, I think it's still a discount. I haven't checked lately.
Gannibal is available to us, in Canada (at least in Ontario), on Disney+ under Stars original

Since Canada does not have Hulu
Thanks all! Love the addition of Stars, since that is/was also a separate branch here (but maybe isn't anymore?). Streaming services are wild and all over the place.
I think I'm going to stick to "Can we say Disney+ and Hulu for now?" since most of our reader will still be US-based and that covers the bases until Hulu's gone.
It’s essentially our version of Hulu just with Canadian media guidelines (I think that’s how it works lol)
Hulu here used to have a Stars add-on, but I know nothing about Stars, really. Seemed like it was HBO-ish, a few shows with some higher-end production, etc.
yeah HBO/Stars/Max were all like adjacent back in the day
not max, max was just a rebranding of hbo (or previously an abbreviation of cinemax, which was frequently packaged with hbo)
the third of the premium cable movie channel triumvirate was showtime
though also that was starz, not stars
so stars on disney+ is probably a different thing
you can tell I watched none of those things, I'd just hear about it a lot because my job at the time
There's so many things, lol. Now I'm like "oh, did Hulu also have Starz, or was that Showtime?" Or both, haha.
Again, streaming has gone buckwild.
i do think hulu had a showtime package
but i could be misremembering
I can't remember, either. It started with an "s" is where I'm at.
Hulu has had bundles with basically everyone else at some point
It still getting eat by the Mouse
We (canada not sure if all) also have Crave which incorporates HBO/Showtime/Max things, too. Because clearly we need even more confusing streaming services
Also ty for this plurk, I had never heard of this before and now it is in my watchlist
Np! I haven't actually watched it, but my biggest gripe with the manga is the story dragging a lot in at least the initial volumes, and I'm willing to bet the show clips a lot of that out.
So it's probably pretty good if you like redneck horror, but make it Japan, lol.
redneck horror is in my dna
I was thinking of couching it with "I say lovingly as a redneck", haha.
It is interesting to see general crossover in urban legend, cryptid, etc throughout the world
Yeah. The drama makes sense because the manga feels a lot like an extended horror movie. There are some folk horror elements, but it's mostly pretty grounded in the insular-ness of a small town and its superstitions and 'ruling family'.
