just the journey was fun, heading in-land instead of out towards the North Sea as on my harbour tour. One of many interesting sights was what appeared to be Noah's Ark! It looked to be a reconstruction based on the Biblical description at 1:1 scale. There was a statue of a giraffe on the deck.
Anyway, at Kinderdijk, there are numerous cycling/walking trails next to canals and alongside the canals were the 19 windmills, at least one of which is functional. (I saw its sails rotating slowly.) One of the mills is a museum so you can see the interior if you want to. You can also get a boat tour along the canals if you wish.
I just went for a pleasant stroll, admired the mills and the abundant bird-life and took photos. Eventually I ambled my way back to the Waterbus and came back to Rotterdam. As the morning went on the area got busier so I was glad to have got there relatively early when it was quiet quiet and relaxed.
lunch back in Rotterdam, an afternoon of gift shopping, then I collected my luggage, went back to Rotterdam Centraal and took the Eurostar back to London. I was very tired and glad to get to my hotel room.
this morning I think I will get breakfast and go home. I had considered spending a day in London but I think I'm too exhausted to appreciate it, so the train back to Bath it is!
