not really! i already had a little hoop which you kinda need for this style of embroidery and I'd done a couple of beginner kits beforehand so I had a tiny bit of experience which really helped

1) back stitch for the stem, 2) herringbone stitch for the leaves, and 3) satin stitch for the flowers?

embroidery floss is basically 6 strands of thread twisted together like a rope, you can seperate the strands and I separated out 2 strands for everything except the black centers, which I wanted to be flatter so I used 1 strand for that

the original kits came with a lighter and darker purple for the first one, which I subbed for the red and black, and the red actually came in this one, which I subbed for white

the fabric is light blue actually but its certainly a lot more subtle than the red would have been
