and I hate reading 'how to do [adult thing]!' blogs that just make me feel stupid bc 'this is a beginner's guide to [thing]' and I don't understand what it's saying

I fell down a rabbit hole of How To Invest And Why You Should

oh i fucking hate investing

it's all so stupid and complicated

unfortunately I feel stupid because I still don't understand a single bit of investing and also I'm sad bc what it sounds like is I need money to make money which means a better job which hey here's how we're in this hole to start with

I am reading basically 'don't just put your money in the bank bc it's just sitting there and actually losing value bc of inflation'
and then it tried to explain the concept of controlled inflation
and now I'm just so befuddled

(money and how and why it works is a not-infrequent topic that drives my brother up the wall bc I will ask questions about how things work that apparently are not kosher things to ask)

(like how does what a money is Worth get determined since gold standard isn't like. a thing anymore. why do different countries have different value to their money. why do the numbers of what one bit of money is valued to another always fluctuate. what IS money, how do we figure out what money IS, who gets to DECIDE what money is-)

(usually the answers are 'idk' and also 'listen it's all kind of a made up agreed upon social structure-')

also 'here's tips on getting a job/getting a better job' and none of it seems applicable, also 'here's how to save money when you're poor' and it's, y'know, basically boiling down to Stop Spending Money And Get A Better Job

naturally I brought this up with my brother and we have reached a 'I agree that I understand (some) of what you have said but do not agree that this is a thing that should happen'

but now I'm on explain like I'm five lol
