I’ve met plenty of people raised as Christians who are still religious that are fine

But every time I’ve dealt with a person who converted, they always are huge bigots

They don’t convert and embrace loving thy neighbor, feeding the needy, etc

No they convert and then rant about how queer people are eeeevil

Like the moment the SSSS author announced she had converted during the pandemic, I knew where her new stuff was going to go before before I saw/read any of it

Yeah but they were Chinese people being proselytized for the first time so it probably is a different thing

unfortunately, that means they were likely always a bigot and conversion just gave them the ability to say the quiet stuff out loud.

yeah that's generally what it is

it's a correlation, not a causation

which is probably also why a lot of people who are raised in the religion tend to fall out when they realize what is being preached is not what is being practiced.

Yeah the SSSS thing threw me for a loop. But also I sincerely wish I could say I knew a convert that didn’t go batshit insane but unfortunately I can’t think of any off the top of my head. Former Catholic current pagan as my source of reference.

I've seen people convert to Judaism and Buddhism and remain cool. Christianity I cannot confirm.

People loudly announcing it surely are up to something.

It's just like that. "Normal" people would just convert and that's it. You wouldn't hear anything about it.
