Idk what I'm asking, I'm browsing replacements for my 5/6 year old Acer
Asus has some cheap ones....
I had an old HP laptop that lasted me almost 10 years, idk if their build quality has gone down
dell is one I would avoid ngl, I had such bad issues with the plastic casing and the hinges just breaking
Asus is a decent brand! Their midrange is a good balance of price and performance. I'm not... super excited about HP or Dell these days, they're very, very mid.
I think my very first laptop was a HP but I can't recall for sure I've definitely seen horror stories in the family when it comes to recent HP and Dell
I've had good experiences with Toshiba and Asus
I've had a lot of good luck with toshiba over the years
Unfortunately i have to anti rec asus their quality has gone down and their joints/screens fail. Frequently, and their cus support is lousy as hell for repairs
asus is good but i would avoid like..... it may advertise itself as a gaming laptop but every time i have got one it has broken down, sometimes as quick as three years. if you want to use it for gaming anything AAA maybe look elsewhere, or at least go in knowing it'll decrease the lifespan.
HP and dell i agree are both mid. Toshiba might be the way to go these days
Dell and HP I have both had issues with. Weirdly doing okay with my current Lenovo outside of its keyboard issues that are mostly my fault
Weirdly because that's an HP sub brand
Dell and everything under its company (like Alienware) I would give a wide berth
Asus I've heard good things about, and I'm using an Asus motherboard, and it's actually been amazing for the past 7 years or so I've had it
oh I didn't know alienware was connected to them
Didn't used to be, but they bought it out like... 10? 15 years ago now?
I got an alienware under them unaware the company was bought out and that thing was a big money sink for all the issues it had
I hear my friends that use them for work and they STILL have the same issues my old laptop did like ten years later
If you want Old Alienware quality go for Cyberpower PC instead
Cyberpower is great, yeah. That's what my gaming desktop is
admittedly I don't do hardcore AAA gaming on laptops, so that wouldn't be an issue if I tried Asus
i've had a really good experience with asus
i don't know if they've improved their customer service at all, but it was a bad enough experience i just refuse to buy anything they make
LunaHoshino: oh yeah I also have a cyber power desktop and it's lasted years, didn't know they made laptops
my laptops are acer and asus and i’ve had zero issues with either. one of them is a chromebook that only just a few month ago after 10 years.
I have been told to avoid HP laptops, and a friend of mine had a very bad experience with a MSI gaming model recently
(I had a HP laptop once and it did indeed die after like, six months, but it was also refurbished and most of my luck with refurbished computers has been bad)
The best laptops I've had have been ASUS models
Dell was mid last time I got one, and that was a desktop
Just to say that not just HP but also Dell are on the BDS boycott list, so avoiding both of those (unless secondhand) is a good idea 👍
i have never met a dell i didn’t want to hurl out of a window tbh
HP customer service sucks also
