Aaaaand, ok, there's no indication that Conrad was raised to believe in any particular religion. Considering his mother, I figure he would have turned out to be an atheist. Or else he never thought about it much. Though, once he learned that ghosts and an afterlife are real he'd lean more toward agnosticism, maybe?

Conrad is a Brit who moved to the US to go to art college and stayed there to make a life for himself.

He can speak French as well as English. Speaking French doesn't do him much good in the US, so I figured he'd not have much of a chance to speak it much.

Maybe if he were a suave guy he could speak French to woo the ladies, but he is not that smooth.
